Behind the flywheel of my 5.0 engine is a sheet metal plate acting as a spacer between the bell housing and the block. On my new 347, the Moroso pan is flush with the back of the block, so the stock plate doesn't fit properly. I cut the "raised" area of the plate, but I think I just defeated the purpose of the shield (if it really is designed to keep oil from the bell housing area). Can I use the shield with the lower portion removed (1/16" gap between bottom of the block and bell housing) or does someone make an aftermarket flat version?

Just cut where you need for clearance for your pan. You need it behind your starter or it won't kick back out fast enough and it will drag after starting. :barf:
