This is the first AOD car ive ever driven. All the past stangs have been manuals. I just put this car together and it feels slower then i expected. I was hoping it would break into the 13s but i dont see that happening. So i was wondering what do they run stock?

Car is stock except for:
3.73s, shorty headers, off road H, flowmaster catback, CAI, aluminum driveshaft, and i got an explorer intake on it that is ported to a 1262 gasket. its at about 14* timing right now

i figured that intake would really open it up. It pulls. Just not like i thought it would.

My old 90lx coupe was bone stock with a AOD and 2.73's...ran 15.2's at 88. I would think yours should run low 14's since you have a few mod's...manually shifting it (doing the 1-2-1 shuffle to hold 2nd will help ya).

My 88 gt aod back when I was in high school 10 years ago with 3.27 gear, pulleys, and tune up ran 14.40's-14.50's all day long doing 1-2-1 shuffle.

Launch with the shifter pulled back into "1"....push it up to D when you want it to shift to 2nd...then just a second after it shifts pull it back down to 1 to make the tranny hold 2nd gear untill you hit the rpm you want to shift into 3rd...then just push it back up to D to hit 3rd.

start in 1, accelerate, when you want to shift up go into D then right back down into 1 and the car will hit 2nd gear, when you want 3rd hit it back up into D. NOT OD. Thats how you shift the aod into 2nd since their is no second gear provision on the shifter.

It was said in the past though that the 1-d-1 shuffle is not good on the trans and will burn it up quicker. I had mine rebuilt and had a transgo shift kit put in it. I continued to do the 1-d-1 shuffle and after about 12k miles it lost overdrive again.

As far as what a stock AOD car runs here's what mine did:

Absolutely full weight and a full tank of fuel, the only modification was flowmaster mufflers (is that even a mod?)
15.70s can't remember the mph high 80s low 90s (this was back in 1998 or so)
Added underdrive crank pulley 15.30s and 3-4 mph gain

Added 3.73 gears (somewhere in there a K&N conical filter went on too), 14.70s with some tire spin.

That was all stock, but with the AOD rebuilt, stock converter, 3.73 gear, pulley, and K&N. Stock headers/h-pipe.

I think with the mods you have, you have a chance at hitting 13s.

Lentech valvebody would help greatly.................might consider a small stall...........cheap used converter/lentech VB were worth roughly 4 tenths in the 1/8th. on my wifes AOD..............good luck and have some fun:)

15.2 all stock except exhaust
14.7-14.9 exhaust- UD's-timing
14.09 all the above 4:10's
All runs on street tires.
Blew the OD out on about my 10th ever drag run. My times were all over the place because I was just learning to drag race. I think this car would have hit the high 13's with no more mods if I raced more.
Everything on the car is changed now. 306-T5...........

Put a good 10" converter in it with a 2800-3200 stall speed and get a shift kit or new valvebody and you will be much happier.

My car has similar mods done to it, with the exception of the intake.

Times in the sig are @ 3200lbs w/driver

stock gears, catback exhaust, and cut&weld ported upper and lower netted my friend a 14.3 at 18* timing with a few gallons of race gas added to the tank.
