LOL There's a guy in another thread that's unhappy about running 12.96 with a TFS topend kit. If he saw your times with the GT40's he may blow a gasket.
I think you're doing pretty damn well.

Hey man!

I think the 108.18mph is good... You should be in the mid 1.6's on the sixty foot but messing with your tune is just guessing... Trust me, I did this "rat race" last year and I got a tune in October and I wish I would've done it at the beginning of the year....

the sixty is SO critical.... It's what I like to call, the "foundation" of the run... I have a 2-step coming off my digital 6 and it's pretty valuable.... A shift light helps too, probably equally comparable as the 2-step....

You say 8lbs tires? What size tires? I ALWAYS stay above 11psi... I run the 26 x 8.5" m/t Drags. the pressure that seems to work best for my car is 11.25-11.50.... and these are 4-5 yr. old slicks...

I've also found out that these slicks don't like long burnouts...

I ran my car tonight...

1.63 sixty
7.67 1/8 @ 88.77mph
12.08 @ 111.01

The DA on the weather meter was around 2300-2400 ft. but I was running a stick race and I hadn't iced it.... Intake was still warm....

Check this out....

I was in elminations so I didn't want to break out.....
Car went 1.59 sixty..... 12.14 @ 105.38 mph..... *(about 20 minutes between rounds, no ice, etc...)*

well i used a set of wore out dirt track tires 27.5 tall leaving at no higher than 4000 rpm and shifting between 5800-6000. i was affraid of breaking since three of my friends broke while we were there. i was affraid of going any higher on the psi but i wish i had because my friends said that it looked like the rim hit the track and that the tire looked like it was spinning in the rim. the low tires pressure could have slowed me down some but thats what was in them on the first run also.

ice can't help that much can it. what i don't get is i went 108.18 first pass right of the street after driving 1:30 minutes ! on my last run i lowered the fpr to 38 and ran 107.00 ! i wasn't really worried about my time because i was try to get the mph out of it that i wanted. because i have a set of southsides upper and lowers that i am going to install then buy a new set of slicks. i was just stumped that no matter what i did with the timing and fuel it never went over 106.00 till the last run ! i also think i could have bad lifters after i ran my car a few times i could here them like a sewing machine and i have stock rockers.

Stock rockers got a bad rep. but I swear they aren't as voo-doo as everyone makes them seem... Last year, in COLD air, I went a 12.13 @ 110 with them..

I'm a little undecided about the ice.... Friday night when I ran.... I used the ice wrap from AFM and went a 12.00 on a 1.60 sixty... took it off but still iced in the pits... just didn't leave it on in the lanes or while running... The car went 1.59 sixty and ran 12.04....

It depends on the air, if your car is rich or the air is bad and you ice it, It helps... but if it's on the lean side and you ice it, I don't think it helps....
Getting on the dyno is priceless man... Your gonna have the same feeling as me... "Why did I put this off....????" :)

nohrspwr, do you have a wideband on your car ! i have a piggy back fuel computer that i can tune with alittle. i thought about buying a wideband ! i still think my car should be doing better than it does for the weight and the mods even without having a dyno tune. but if someone was close to me i would take it......

I do not have a wideband... I wish I did because I'm very curious to see what the Air Fuel ratio is at while I'm moving down the track....

A 26" tire will probably get you the times you want. Look into a 26x10et drag, your 60fts should drop and you could pick up a couple more 10's. My 87gt w/ gt40p's went 12.40 the first pass I made with that motor and I could never get it any quicker. Unfortuanetlly the shortblock was from a junkyard and it only lasted 20 passes. Sometimes you go chasing your fastest pass and just never get any faster.

i think your times are great for a car with p heads with no dyno tune! they are great stock heads but i agree with them the dyno is priceless.
ill be tuning my p head setup this weekend.
keep on tuning and you will have great results
