I'll have to get some pictures up here shortly...

My 89 notchback (Went 9's on stock 88k mile LS1 shortblock month or two ago.) just underwent getting the full treatment to be a really nice car.

I yanked the whole drivetrain/interior/all glass/weatherstripping/trim/fuel cell etc to a bare shell.

Welded up gas door, mounting Wolfe removable parachute kit through the rear bumper. Car is getting Southern Outlaw sheetmetal parachute wing on the new paint job.

Everything is bare metal in the interior other than dash right now etc. Entire interior, 10 point moly cage, floorboards, minitubs/trunk etc is getting paint gun sprayed POR-15 Glossy block.

Car is getting the body fully prepped, panels/3" cowl hood lined up perfect etc. Then going Sonic Blue 2-stage. Hopefully will look pretty sick.

Car Now (Pictures look 100x better than actual paint. Paint clear is almost all flaked, lots of misc dings/scratches/flaws.)

Here is close to what I'm expecting when its done (minus the flames):

Should be a beast with that Procharger! Do you have L92 heads or the LS7 heads and are they ported? James
Well as long as there are no holdups on the finishing up the longblock:

New motor is on a different level than stock casting stuff. Planning to make about 1200-1400 rwhp pretty easily. We'll see if it goes low-mid 8's on a 325 radial...Ultimate goal is 7.99 for our shop car on a 10.5W

Just your everyday daily driver combo (heh). I actually plan to cruise it on the street to the weekend car stuff and drive it to/from the track after its all sorted out. Theres nothing about the motor that is unstreetable really.

CalSpeed & Performance 440" Shortblock:
2nd Gen GM LSx Race Block (6-bolt per cylinder), dowel located steel caps
Callies XL Magnum 4.0 stroke crankshaft
Howards Severe Duty Billet Rods
Diamond Custom Blower Pistons /w Hellfire rings

TFS 245cc TEA hand finished to just over 250cc
ARP 6-bolt per cylinder head studded
Hyd CalSpeed custom grind
Same 1-7/8" Kooks longtubes /w dual 3.5" X-pipe exhaust
Victor Carb Style Intake /w Sheetmetal Elbow - 90mm TB
3-bar Speed density Big Stuff 3 EFI
96lb/hr RC 1000cc injectors
Magnafuel 2500hp Fuel Pump, 12an feed line from tank to rails, 8an return.
Monster Glide /w Chance bolt-together converter with a brake
F2 Cog Drive Procharger Kit (Start @ 15 psi pulley, plan on running up to 25 psi.)
Air to Air front mount /w methanol on top for lower octane, fed by C16.
Same max effort 8.8" Rearend. Probably will upgrade to 5/8 studs that ive had on the shelf when its done.

car looks real good, any reason you went with a procharger instead of a turbo?

Im a deep distributor/dealer for Procharger...

In the 8 years ive been selling prochargers, I had never called to order anything for myself since I have built every combo except a fast procharger deal for myself.

When I called, i got it with tons of upgrades over the $6500 msrp F2/cog kit, fully polished bracketry/head unit etc...would have been about $7500 msrp (normal distributor cost $5500)...they gave me the entire setup for $3k. Kinda hard to pass up :)

I see a couple areas that you might want to look at to get to your goals.

Trying to push 12-1400 RWHP (read 16-1700hp at the crank) through 1 7/8 headers should be rethought. I would go AT LEAST 2 1/8, if not 2 1/4 primaries w/ a 4" collector.

An eventual 25#'s through a 440" motor is A LOT of air going in, it needs to get out.

On the same note, Those injectors should be addressed 96 #er's aren't going to cut it trying to support the power you're looking to make. 160's will support that kind of power in a manageable duty cycle and fuel pressure.

Lastly, I would SERIOUSLY look into dumping the a2a intercooler and put a 2000hp a2w on in there.

Just a couple things that are popping out

Appreciate the advise but most parts were chosen because I have them laying around in the shop. I'm all about spending no money and going fast. Ive got enough $ tied up in my shop and a bunch of other projects ive got going for myself (87 GN turbo ls1/4l60e, 07 TBSS, 67 GTO resto-mod protouring ls2/t56, 00 SS, 02 WS6, 00 Z28, 90lx that im now converting away from LS powered to 03 cobra/t56, 70 chevelle who knows)

Headers: already own. Not gonna spend a bunch of time/effort building a new set till Ive got the car back on the road making over 1k+ rwhp on it. (1-7/8 primaries, 3.5" collector Kooks right now)

96's are rated at 43.5 psi..itll be pushing 70psi plus dual methanol nozzles feeding it. (5-gallon meth tank rear mounted that goes through a ton of meth fast, makes up for the Air/air frount mount that should be upgraded to a nice a/w setup, but Ive got it all laying around and never really will).

If I run out of fuel (wont at the 1000 rwhp level) then I may upgrade...but im cheap so itll probably stay as-is for awhile.

This car isnt being built as a "class contender" etc..just a low buck (compared to every other 7/8 second car around here) setup that uses simple parts put together. Outta still be less than 3000lbs+ me, so not hard to go fast real light. Already was good for almost 150 mph with less than 550 rwhp through th350.

What size meth nozzle are you going to run?

Shooting for 7's ?
Nope..just 8.50's. Plan on getting it there fairly easily since it will require alot less boost than a combo looking for 7's etc. Especially in this light of a car.

Car is only certed for 8.50's so that is as fast as will run it. Definietely keeps the cost under control :)

Also we are running the car in the Car Craft Engine Swap Drags in March in Arizona. Hoping to win actually :)
