Working on a 1993 Mustang LX 5.0 with Low Coolant light on. Replaced the cap and sensor assembly, light went off for short period of time and came back. Sensor now appears to be shorted. Bought another one, checked voltage on plug from car, red with yellow stripe showing 12 volt and blue wire showing 12 volt also. Any idea on what they should be?

the R/Y is powered from fuse 18

LB is also powered from fuse 18, but it goes through the low coolant bulb

that means the R/Y going to the coolant module is powering the sensor

when the LB gets pulled to ground through the sensor the bulb will go on.

you can bench test the sensor with a test light and battery power in a bucket of water.

Appreciate the info. I thought putting a new one on that it might have been bad but bought another and did the same thing. Something crazy going on. I put a jumper wire on the contacts posts and ohmed the r/y and b and had ohmes. figured that would mean it was right.
