Can someone explain to me why the need for all of the vaccum lines and tubes. It appears that I have 5 or 6 of them that feed into the upper intake.

1 from left valve cover
1 from right valve cover
2 from the air intake tube
1 from the driver side header
May be one other I am forgetting.

Some of these lines appear to effect how the each runs more then others. (ie. 1 line from the air intake tube, and the other from the header)

The one from the left valve cover draws crank case vapor back in to the air inlet. From the right cover it draws vapors directly into the manifold.

From the header is the EGR tube, which cools the chambers during cruise.

The line to the IAC provides metered air to the IAC.

The valve cover lines are for emissions. The IAC is for idle control, and the EGR for emmissions and detonation prevention
