I have a 2001 mustang v6 manual transmission that is completely stock except for cold air intake. I was wondering what are the first/best performance mods I should do it help it have a little more power.

Axle gears (I'd go 3.73) and a shifter for the transmission. Beyond that the best value for time and money spent will be a turbo setup or a supercharger if you are going to stay with the V6.

Their is/was a strong subsect of Mustang people that were building 3.8 V6's up. A good turbo for a 3.8 Buick Grand National would be a good turbo for a 3.8 Mustang.

Leave it alone.....

The crankshaft isn't exactly strong in a forced induction application.

In stock form, as long as the head gaskets don't poop out, they last a LONG time. My old one has over 400,000 miles on it-and has never been into and never had anything but abuse and maintenance done to it.
