Hello, been thinking about going turbo on my carbed 408w with a 69 351 block in a 2400 lb 1990 notchback. I would probably build the motor around 8.5.1 compression. Car is fully built to race and has an Aeromotive fuel system. Car currently runs 9's on motor at 11.2.1. Would like to see hi 8's eventually. Will the 69 block hold this kind of boosted power with any longevity? Any advice on what kit to use and any good installers and tuners in IL? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

i think as long as you have a stout rotating assembly and good ARP studs top and bottom, and good mls or copper head gaskets you should be able to make a easy 800-900hp.. i dont think you will need much more power then that to go mid 8's in a car that light..

theres lots of good turbo kits out there..easiest and cheapest way is buy some SBF shortie headers, cut off the ball flange and weld on v bands and flip em and build your own cross over out of 2 1/2" pipe..kits are designed around stock components and in a race car stuff is all over the place so if you make your own hotside you can put things were u want.. also stick with a T6 Exh housing and somthing in the 1.10 AR range should work nice.. if its strip only go 1.32 since you have all the time you need to get it up on boost.. the midframe S480 is a great turbo and should work well for your power needs and goals..plus there cheap..
