I was planning on going with a single 46mm Precision wastegate with my setup but my engine builder and Precision recommend running dual wastegates. I am still new to turbos and am unsure as to why I would need dual wastegates. Can someone help shed some light on the advantages of a dual vs single setup?

Take your engines est peak hp at full boost, and the max HP the turbo is rated for.
Ex. 1000hp motor with a turbo capable of producing 1500hp= a wastegate capable of suppressing 500hp. The formula is at efidynotune.com.

You could always start with 1 and if you are getting creep or can't get the boost as low as you'd want its pretty simple to add a 2nd.

A lot of guys run 2 because they didn't place the 1st one right to begin with. One properly placed gate, sized correctly is fine for most builds. Google optimum wastegate placement to get some ideas.
That being said, I have 1 60mm on my build and have some creep issues because of placement. I'm rebuilding my crossover this winter and going to 2 smaller gates that are vented to atmosphere, instead of into my downpipe.
