I have a 1999 GT with a Mach 1 engine. I replace the hood with a carbon fiber hood for the Mach 1 scoop. The hoods studs aren’t metal, they are plastic like the hood. Over the years two of the studs have broken.
I don’t want to replace the hood if possible. I’m thinking it may work if I take the hood off, shear the plastic studs flush with the hood and then anchor some metal studs into the hood at the same location the plastic studs were.
Does anyone have any suggestions how to do this so the newly anchored studs don’t wear out the carbon fiber where they get mounted? I have some ideas, but they may be bad ones, I’m hoping to hear some good ideas and possibly hear from someone that’s done something like this.
Thanks
