I recently bought a 93GT with a 331 stroker that had 150 shot of Nitrous.
It had an SCT tune in the computer with dial in the glove box with four
numbers. I guessing this is what is called a flip chip. My question is this:
since I have taken the nitrous off the car will the car run if I pull the chip
out of the computer. Since I've owned the car it runs like crap no matter
what setting I turn on the dial. I would like to just run the motor without
any power adders so I shouldn't need any chip. Can anyone give me some
advice on this matter.

It all depends on what's been done to the car, what parts it has, etc. Please let me know the specific's & I'll try to help.I'm an SCT tuner & a performance shop owner.

SCT tuner question

I have no receipts, but this is what I was told the car had:
302 bored and stroked to 331, forged internals balanced and blueprinted,
large cam but no specs,AFR 165 aluminum heads, trick flow roller rockers,
trick flow intake system, world products 75mm throttle body, mass air
calibrated for 30lb injectors,BBK cold air,Mac Long Tube headers with H-pipe
and flowmaster dumps, 3.73 gears, aluminum driveshaft, WC T-5. The car
had 150 shot wet nitrous system when I bought it and I removed before I
started to drive it. The dial in the glove box is curently set on #2 position
but the car jumps or buck jumps any time you get below 2000 rpm's. I clears
up once you rev it up in the higher rpm range. I tried the #4 position on the
dial which takes the buck jump out but the car won't idle below 1200 rpm's
and it seems to change everytime the car is restarted.
any thoughts would be appreciated.

Have it retuned or remove the chip and reset timing and fuel pressure and drive it. You'll get the most out of it with the correct tune.

It should still run ok as long as the injectors match the mass air.I'd pull it to see what it does that way you can tell if it's a tune issue or a mechanical issue. You wouldn't believe how many people will blame a mechanical prob on the tune! Let me know if you need more assistance.

Position 4 is the stock tune as it bypasses the chip entirely.... Sorry to say but you need a different tuner and be sure whoever does it has the ability to datalog your platform or it will never be right....
