Sometimes when running to redline, my car backfires and shoots flames from both tailpipes.
What are the negative effects of this, if any?
Also, how do I go about correcting it? My timing is @ 12 deg and fp is @38 psi.

I'm not sure about this solution but I heard about the same thing from a friend. His car would backfire and shoot flames too. He said that he plugged the air tube that comes off of the back of the heads and connects to his H-Pipe. Apparently, this fixed his problem.

Good luck!

The EGR tube? What did he use to cap it off?

I'm not sure what he used but you could use a piece of high temp tubing clamped on the end of the tube and make it long enough to fold over and clamp closed. I also heard someone cut off the end of a broomstick or something and put it in there with a clamp.

All of this is hearsay. I've never personally witnessed the problem or the solution.

Good luck!
