I am planning on installing an autometer pyrometer guage on my 98 cobra. I have bbk longtubes installed. What is the prefered method to install a strap on unit. Which cylinder is the leanest and is it more accurate to install it on the primary as close to the exhaust port as possible, or can I place the probe on the collector?

Thanks
Omar

The Autometer strap on EGT that I got attaches to the collector of my BBK longtubes. I think that the thermocouple is kinda big to fit into one of the individual headder pipes without being an obstruction. Check with Autometer about the model you got. If it came with a 3" strap, it was meant for the collector.

I know this is an old post, but they make something that doesnt require any weldning or tapping? You just wrap something around the header tube to get temperature?
