Picked up some black 10 holes in Pittsburgh off an SSP member on Facebook.

Sourced what looks to be a period correct license plate off eBay.

Spare tire holder:

Thanks to Will B for the complete owner's manual.

Fuel pump and FPR from Summit.

My uncle, the mad scientist, working diligently:

That would explain the fuel leak:

One of the previous owners completely hacked up the floor of the trunk to make it easier to access the fuel pump. Their hack job led to fumes and road noise. We covered up their mess.

Quick before and after shot:

Noticed the passenger headlight was leaking bad so I took it out to seal it up.

Brand new OEM period correct wheel locks.

Picked up a matching base model wheel off eBay for cheap. It's in much better shape than the original leather wheel but this will be an alternate until I can find someone to wrap/refinish the original wheel.

It cleaned up really well. I also ordered some 303 Protectant to coat the wheel and rest of the interior.

Texas DPS

Very nice looking SSP, even with all the things you have to correct! I look forward to following your progress. May I suggest a visit to the site specialservicemustang.net You will find your VIN listed in their VIN Project, yet to be confirmed as a DPS unit.
I believe the part you are referring to in post #14 is the Firewall to Hood Seal, available from LMR part #LRS-16740A and National Parts Depot #M-16740-1A made by Daniel Carpenter.
Also agree with your choice of the black 15" 10 hole rims, they look nicer than the plain aluminum ones used on the '90-'93 SSP's. You may find the spare tire bolt a bit short when used on a full size spare, I used one from a CVPI, you have to heat it up and straighten it!
Keep the photos coming.

The car passed the enhanced inspection which was needed before I could title and register the car.

]
Interesting. Here in Maine, you do not get the inspection until AFTER the car is titled and licensed. I moved to Maine 7 months ago and brought my car in for inspection with Washington plates on the car and they would not do the inspection until the car was registered and licensed in the State of Maine. Lol

Nice job. Porno red interior looks soo much better when it is cleaned up.
Hahaha, thanks man. My teenage self would have hated that interior.. As I get older, I appreciate differences.

Thank you, sir.

Sadly, the site hasn't been maintained in years so it is basically a brick. I registered a while ago but there's no one even around to approve my request.

Good catch on the missing firewall to hood seal. I never would have caught that. I will have to order it. The part I was referencing though was the a/c line right in front of the firewall.

Good tip for the spare tire bolt! Currently a small spare back there and the bolt is too big lol.

Appreciate the comments!

Man this is great, the restoration is looking real good. Love the hat and period floor mats, great score!
Appreciate it sir!

That is normally the case... However, that is not the case with branded titles. You have to prove that it is worthy to be titled in Pennsylvania if it comes in as a branded title.

I also picked up the period correct/actual radar used by TX DPS in the 1993s.

M.P.H. Industries, Inc. Bee Model 36 Doppler Radar.

https://copradar.com/rdrspecs/bee36.html

The package came with two complete units.

I started cleaning up the one which lights up and appears to be fully functional.

I've seen the radar units mounted in a few different positions but I probably would go with this if I do mount it:

What caused the vehicle to have a branded title?

Definition of branded title:

Vehicle title branding is the use of a permanent designation on a vehicle's title, registration or permit documents to indicate that a vehicle has been written off due to collision, fire or flood damage or has been sold for scrap.

You must have wanted it very badly to agree to a branded title car.

It’s explained in the first post.

It’s not like it’s everyday you can run out and buy a former Texas police fox body. At the end of the day, the only thing a branded title does is possibly affect the value of the car.

I didn’t buy it to sell for a profit and it’s certainly not a thoroughbred.

My cousin, who runs a small shop and owns my uncle's old 1989 Saleen, installed a fresh T5 for me over Thanksgiving.

He also did a clutch cable, new rear main seal and surfaced the flywheel. The rear main seal and clutch cable were basically both gone.

I've been working non-stop (to keep this car running LOL) so my buddy was kind enough to pickup the wheels and tires to mount and balance them for me. Good friends are hard to come by... Ricky is the man!

Currently chasing a coolant issue... heat is still lacking and hoses are leaking.

Yeah, nothing in the first post about a branded title. Were you surprised when you got the car and the title was not clean?

Flushed the heater core. Heat works well for now. Discovered a small leak at the gasket behind the timing cover. We also bypassed the oil cooler for now. It was all clogged up and nasty.

I also messed around, scrubbed and painted some of the rear undercarriage.

Right before I pulled in my driveway, the AC compressor clutch started chattering and sparking... fix one thing and another breaks.
