Dave, after our conversation ealier today regarding Extreme or the lack of possible participants. Here is a copy of my proposed Renegade rules. I set them up to incorporate high powered NATURALLY ASPIRATED (H/S or S/B) cars that could be competitive with the Renegade cars. These rules in NO WAY allow me to win. They are just set-up to allow Joe Huchins and myself a class to race in and be competitive. Everyone please read carefully and post your thoughts.




Proposed 2002 Rules, Version 1.1

General Description – Renegade was designed for street/strip 4.6/5.4L naturally aspirated and power adders SN-95 and Fox-chassis Fords. Maximum 360ci. 28.6" x 10.6" maximum tire size, as measured. All run qualified fields run on a pro tree (.400) NHRA sportsmen ladder. Three qualified passes will be permitted on Saturday, with eliminations taking place on Sunday, weather permitting.

Qualifying Information & Ladder Type
All Run NHRA SPORTSMEN ladder.

ENGINE: GENERAL
Type –Limited to 4.6L 2V and 4V Modular engine types. Engines are permitted in any 1979-through-2001-body style.
Cubic Inches – limited to 360 CID. The cubic inch policy is one of zero tolerance; the engine builder and racer must account for all tolerance. Add 200 pounds for 311 to 360 CID engines.
Engine Block – Any 4.6 or 5.4-based 2-valve or 4-valve engine block (cast iron or aluminum) is permitted. Factory bore spacing required.
Crankshaft – Any crankshaft permitted.
Connecting Rods – Any connecting rods permitted.
Heads Gaskets & Quench Area – Any permitted.
Pistons, Pins & Ring Package – Any permitted. Any compression ratio is permitted.
Oil Pan – Any oil pans are permitted. Windage trays are permitted.
Oil Pumps / Dry Sump – Wet sump oiling system is required. External oil pumps permitted. Dry sump systems are prohibited. Oil lines run outside of the engine block to feed the oil galleries are prohibited.
Engine Location – engine location may be altered from stock, but no part of the engine or accessories may touch firewall.
Motor Plates – motor plates are prohibited.

ENGINE: CYLINDER HEADS
General Guidelines – EFI Renegade is intended for ported "street/strip" Ford and aftermarket aluminum cylinder heads. Very limited modifications are permitted for cylinder heads, including limits on valve sizes, valve jobs, porting, milling, and other items. Please read this section carefully to avoid disqualification.
Permitted Heads Guidelines – Legal cylinder heads limited to commercially available, standard mass-production-style 4.6 based cylinder heads. One-off or custom-made cylinder heads are not permitted. Legal cylinder heads may not be altered, either by racer, engine builder, or manufacturer, from the standard production heads in any area. This includes port shape, height, width, location, spark plug placement, spark plug depth, valve spacing, combustion chamber profile, combustion chamber location and size, rocker design and type, thickness of cylinder head deck, thickness of cylinder head flanges, exhaust port bolt-pattern, thickness of water passages, pushrod location, etc. Any cylinder heads found in competition not fitting above "production guidelines" will result in immediate disqualification, suspension, and potential fines. The Modular Shootout Director in writing prior to competition must accept new cylinder heads, or any changes to existing cylinder heads.
Manifold & Head Bolt Patterns – Class is only permitted standard bolt-pattern for cylinder head and intake manifolds.
Porting – Porting of heads is permitted. The intake port, exhaust port, bowl area, combustion chamber, and short-side radius may be ported. Gasket matching is permitted.
Welding / Epoxy – Welding or epoxy (of any type) is strictly prohibited for any reason. In the case of a needed repair to an isolated area of the cylinder head, contact Modular Shootout tech to determine legality.
Valve Sizes & Valve train – Any permitted. Replacement stainless steel valves are permitted in all applications. Under-cut stems and/or "high flow" valves are permitted. Hardened valve locks are permitted. Titanium valves are permitted. Titanium retainers are permitted. Bronze lined or replacement guides are permitted.
Valve Jobs – Any valve jobs are permitted.
Milling – Milling is permitted.
Combustion Chamber Volume – Any combustion chamber size is permitted.
Illegal Modifications Outlined – Any modifications not specifically permitted are prohibited. No major modifications are permitted including using epoxy, welding, adapter plates, or any other means to radically alter the stock port shape or head dimensions.
Permitted Cylinder Head List, Part Numbers – The following cylinder heads are the only legal accepted versions for the Renegade class:
1) Stock Ford 4.6 2V Cylinder Heads- Any year
2) Stock Ford 4.6 4V Cylinder Heads- Any year
3) FRPP 4.6 2V Cylinder Heads
4) FRPP 4.6 4V Cylinder Heads

ENGINE: INTAKE MANIFOLDS
General Guidelines – EFI Renegade is designed for ported, cast-aluminum "street/strip" EFI fuel injection intake manifolds. The intake manifold must be standard-production-style. Sheetmetal intake manifolds (upper and lower) are permitted for naturally aspirated engines. Removal of the secondary runner controls is legal. Nitrous/Blower combinations are permitted modified short-runner EFI manifolds.
Porting – Permitted on upper and lower intake.
Welding / Epoxy – Welding and Epoxy on the lower intake is permitted. Welding or epoxy is prohibited on the upper intake. Upper manifold may be ported, but may not be cut, modified, or welded. Radical modifications to runners, plenum, or other parts of upper or lower intake manifolds are permitted. Manifold runners may be shortened.
Milling Flanges – Intake manifold flange may be milled a minor amount to get manifold to sit properly on cylinder heads. Radical milling of manifold flanges is prohibited.
Illegal Modifications Outlined – Absolutely NO MODIFICATIONS permitted, other than those specifically permitted.

New intake manifolds will be evaluated as they are released, and must be submitted for approval by manufacturer to Modular Shootout Director in writing.

ENGINE: INDUCTION
Throttle Body Size & Type Permitted
(1) Only mass-produced, commercially available throttle bodies are permitted.
(2) Single throttle body required in stock location on power added engines.
(3) 2V/4V may run aftermarket commercially available, bolt-on throttle body.
Mass Air Size & Type Permitted
(1) Only commercially available, mass-produced mass air sensors are permitted.
(2) Mass air sensor must be of standard "draw through" design, and must be installed on the inlet side of the supercharger, if so equipped
(3) Maximum size of mass air meter is 80 MM.
(4) Mass Air Sensor is required, does not need to be functional. Not required on naturally aspirated engines.
Speed Density is permitted.
Air Cleaners – Not Required.
Carb Types & Sizes Permitted – not permitted.
Carb Modifications Permitted – not permitted.
EFI Systems Guidelines – Modular Shootout Accepted Factory EEC-V mass-air engine control computer system required. Modular Shootout Accepted "plug-in" chips and EEC computer "add-ons" permitted.
EFI Systems Add-Ons Permitted – These are the only permitted systems:
(1) FRPP Extender & FRPP EPEC
(2) Anderson Ford PMS System
(3) Crane Interceptor
(4) APE Speedbrain
(5) Autologic Plug In EEC Chip
(6) Superchips Plug In EEC Chip
(7) Hypertech Plug In EEC Chip
(8) Diablo Plug In EEC Chip
(9) EEC_Tuner
10) DFI, MOTEC, Speed-Pro, Electromotive, and most other non-EEC-type replacement engine control systems are permitted. Power Adder car add 100 lbs.
Modifications to EFI Systems Permitted – No modifications to aftermarket computer chips, or aftermarket "permitted" EEC computer systems (i.e. PMS) are permitted. You must utilize engine control system in its factory-supplied, commercially available, condition without internal or external modifications.
Fuel Injector Sizes Permitted & Type – Any type of fuel injector size or type is permitted, including low or high-impedance injectors. Maximum of (8) Eight fuel injectors must be located in stock location.
Data Logging Parameters –– Data recorders and data loggers are permitted. Wide-band oxygen sensors for purposes of data recording or tuning are permitted. Electronic traction controls of any type strictly prohibited. Data recorders permitted to record functions of the vehicle, but may not activate any function on the vehicle.
Any EFI System not specifically MODULAR SHOOTOUT ACCEPTED should be considered illegal.

ENGINE: CAMSHAFT & VALVETRAIN
Type of Camshafts Permitted – Aftermarket hydraulic roller camshaft permitted with a maximum of .550 lift for 2V-based engines. Maximum of .500 lift for 4V-based engines. Duration may be altered from stock. .
Lift parameters
2-valve: .550 maximum lift
4-valve: .500 maximum lift.
Duration parameters – Duration may be altered.
Lifters Permitted – Functional, unmodified Ford OEM stock hydraulic roller lifters are required. No other hydraulic roller lifters will be permitted. Rev kits of any type strictly prohibited. Hydraulic lifters may not be plugged or bottomed out.
Modifications to Camshaft & Valvetrain Permitted – no modifications are permitted to lifters of any kind. Rev kits of any type are strictly prohibited.
Modular Shootout Tech Measurement Procedure Outline – Lift checked at valve retainer.

ENGINE: ACCESSORIES
Water Pump – Electric water pumps are permitted.
Alternator – Not required, but recommended.
Electric Fan – electric fans are permitted.
Evacuator Systems – crankcase evacuator systems are permitted.

ENGINE: EXHAUST
Headers & Collectors – Long-tube headers are permitted. Any size header tubing size is permitted. Collector-mufflers are not permitted.
Exhaust tubing size – Maximum 3.0" exhaust pipe diameter. H-pipe, mufflers, and tailpipes may not exceed 3.0" diameter at any point.
Tailpipes & exhaust rules – Tailpipes exiting at rear of vehicle are not required. Turndowns are permitted.
Muffler requirements – Mufflers required, 3.0" maximum inlet and outlet.
Exhaust Gases – All exhaust gases released from engine must pass through the muffler(s).

ENGINE: FUEL SYSTEM & IGNITION
General – Any method of artificially cooling or heating fuel prohibited (i.e. cool cans, ice, Freon, wet rags, etc.)
Fuel Pump – Any type of fuel pump is permitted.
Fuel Lines – Any type of fuel lines are permitted.
Fuel Tank / Fuel Pickup – Stock O.E.M. fuel tank or fuel cell is permitted. Fuel sumps are permitted. Aftermarket high-flow fuel pickup tubes are permitted.
Gasoline Types Permitted – Gasoline as outlined here is the only acceptable fuel for use in this eliminator. Gasoline, as defined by the NHRA rulebook, is a mixture of hydrocarbons only. Non-hydrocarbons, which do not increase the specific energy of the gasoline, are permitted to the extent that they do not exceed .15 percent by volume and are blended in the gasoline by the refiner or fuel manufacturer. Gasoline is a good electrical insulator, or dielectric, and its relative effectiveness as an insulator is represented by its dielectric constant (D.C.). The average D.C. for the hydrocarbon, which compromises gasoline, is 2.025. This is defined as a reading of "0" on the fuel-check meter. The NMRA/NHRA allows no greater reading than a "0" on the fuel-check meter. The NMRA reserves the right to check gasoline (sample) being used by competitors at any time with any testing method.
Spec Fuel Information – Spec Fuel Information – There is no spec fuel in this class.
Ignition & Electrical System – There are no restrictions on the ignition system.
Battery Location – Battery may be relocated to trunk of car in NHRA-accepted manner.

ENGINE: POWER ADDERS
Supercharger – Permitted superchargers are limited to Modular Shootout Accepted commercially-available, standard mass-production-style "street/strip-type" systems, utilizing the a 8-rib belt drive system. Any commercially available, Modular Shootout Accepted supercharger, which fits within the “Modular Shootout RENEGADE SPEC”, will be permitted for competition in this eliminator. Internals of supercharger units (gearing, impeller, drivetrain) etc. may not be modified in any area. Intercoolers or aftercoolers are prohibited.
Modular Shootout Renegade Spec:

Inlet diameter (external O.D.): 4.000-inch maximum
Impeller diameter (tip-to-tip, as measured): 6.600-inch maximum
Housing diameter (greatest external diameter of housing, not to include the discharge itself): 10.000-inch
In the case of non-centrifugal superchargers (i.e., roots or screw type) only those listed below are permitted.
Permitted Superchargers– Current list of superchargers, which fit within the Modular Shootout Renegade, accepted "spec".

Permitted Pulleys & Belts – Renegade requires that the supercharger systems run a standard-width 8-rib belt, supercharger pulley, and crankshaft pulley. Cog belts are prohibited. Blower crank pulley must be a maximum of 8.000"-inch diameter (O.D. of grooves on pulley).
Supercharger Accessories – All supercharger systems are permitted aftermarket discharge tube, inlet tubing, bypass valves, blower oil lines, air inlet housing, etc. Superchargers may be mounted on drivers or passenger-side of engine compartment.
Turbochargers – Not permitted.
Nitrous Oxide – Any nitrous systems are permitted on EFI-style short & long runner manifolds, including multi-stage, fogger-type, and multi-nozzle systems. Nitrous fogger nozzles are permitted in upper and/or lower EFI-style intake manifolds. Progressive systems are permitted in all nitrous applications.
Boost Controllers – Not permitted.
Intercoolers – Not permitted.

BODY
General – Must retain original appearance and body profile. Exact original OEM body shell type and dimensions required. This is a zero tolerance area. Chopping, channeling, sectioning, or any other alterations to contour, lengthen, shorten, widen, stretch, or modify any area strictly prohibited. Only permitted lightweight body panels permitted are hood and trunk lid. Body may not be altered in width, length, height or shape. Wheel well openings may be mildly modified for tire clearance. Front grill area must be factory appearing. Grill cannot not be covered, blocked off, or filled in for aerodynamic purposes. Front fascia (bumper) may be replaced, but must be factory width (at maximum) and not be designed for aerodynamic advantage. Body must be finished and painted. Body may not be shifted on chassis (measured at front spindle & rear axle centerline to front and rear door jam) more than +/- 1/2-inch (.5"). Factory-appearing rocker panels are required. Overhang must be within 1.0"-inch of stock.
Aerodynamics – Any modifications designed for aerodynamic advantage are strictly prohibited. Removal of side mirrors is prohibited. Taping of any parts of body, seams, or front end is prohibited.
Body Kits – Only Modular Shootout Accepted, commercially available body kits are permitted. Any body kits or body modification intended for aerodynamic gain strictly prohibited.
Contingency Decals – In order to be eligible for Modular Shootout official contingency program, all contingency decals may appear only on the rear and rear quarter panel windows in a clear and organized fashion. Contingency decals may not be overlapped or modified. Other decals (non-contingency) may appear on bodywork, hood, front end, and on windows.
(3) Class Sponsor Decal – Sponsor decal must be installed on both left and right side windows.
Hood types permitted – Cowl induction-type hood permitted, maximum of 5-inch cowl. No forward mounted hood scoops. Hood may be lift-off or bolt on. Standard-type Stormin' Norman or Mach One-style hoods are permitted, however air inlets may not be used for the purposes of fabricating a ram-air system or for ducting fresh air into the engine.
Air intake outline – Holes in bumper or hood area for air intake are prohibited. Commercially available ram air & cold-air kits are legal, however headlights and/or fog lights may not be removed and/or modified for purposes of air induction.
Wing – Rear wing may not stretch greater than 20-inches from transition point at trunk/hatch to end of wing. Wing may not be molded into the body or bodyline, and must be stationary during entire run. Wing spill plates permitted a maximum height of 12-inches.
Lights & Street Equipment – All street equipment (lights, brake lights, turn signals, horn) must be retained and operational. Stock-type headlights, taillights, turn signals, brake lights, and hazard lights are mandatory.

INTERIOR
General – Must maintain a stock appearance, including factory O.E.M. dashboard, headliner, steering column, and door panels. Aftermarket racing-type seats are permitted.
Carpet – Carpet is required.
Seats – Two seats are required in the stock location. Rear seat optional, but area must be carpeted leaving no bare panels.
Door Panels – Stock O.E.M. door panels are required.
Steering Column – Steering column must remain stock. Removable steering wheels are permitted on stock steering column, with adapter.
Gauges – Aftermarket gauges may be installed in factory dash.
Laptops – Laptops are permitted in the vehicle during competition, but may not activate any function of the vehicle.
Windows – O.E.M. Safety glass is required.

CHASSIS & SUSPENSION: FRONT
General – Stock-type front suspension required. Aftermarket factory-replacement type tubular K-member permitted. Tubular control arms and coil-overs are permitted Aftermarket drag struts and springs permitted. Bolt-on-type camber/caster plates permitted. Aftermarket struts & springs permitted, but must resemble the factory components. Front frame rails, radiator core support, and inner fender Sheetmetal must remain in stock location and must be unaltered. Spindle-mount front wheels are prohibited.
K-member – Aftermarket "factory-replacement-type" K-member permitted, but must attach to the chassis using only the original eight (8) factory OEM-type mounting bolts in the factory mounting locations. No part of the K-member may be permanently attached to the chassis.
Strut Towers – Factory strut towers are required. No modifications may be made to the strut towers other than the following: Roll bar or roll cage may be welded to the strut tower for safety purposes only. Minor clearancing of strut tower may be permitted for supercharger or turbocharger tubing.
Control Arms – Standard or tubular, stock-type front control arms are required, but they must attach in the O.E.M. stock location.
Struts – Any aftermarket struts are permitted.
Spindles & Spindle Mount Struts – Only stock OEM spindles or bolt-on, commercially available aftermarket spindles are permitted.
Springs – Aftermarket springs are permitted.
Coil-Overs – Coil-over shocks and struts are permitted, but they must attach in the O.E.M. stock location.
Camber-Caster Plates – any stock-replacement type permitted.
Steering – manual factory-replacement steering system is required, but it must remain in the O.E.M. stock location.

CHASSIS & SUSPENSION: REAR SUSPENSION
Type of suspension permitted – Stock-type suspension required.
Definition of stock suspension – Suspension is considered "stock-type" when upper and lower rear control arm mounting points are in the stock location. Chassis-side (forward) control arm mounting points must remain in exact stock location for both upper and lower control arms. Rear mounting points (rearend-side) for control arms may be adjustable upward and downward. Control arms must retain factory lateral angle for both upper and lower arms. Aftermarket lower torque boxes are permitted but must retain stock control arm mounting points. Aftermarket upper torque box replacements are prohibited. Factory upper torque boxes may be welded and reinforced, but must remain in factory location.
Type of permitted aftermarket suspension components – The following types of aftermarket suspension components are the only permitted:
(A) Traction Bars – Bolt-on Traction Bars with permanent (welded or bolted) rear end mount and rubber snubber (or rubber bushing with permanent mount) on chassis side.
(B) Replacement Control Arms – Replacement upper and lower control arms. Control arms may use any type of bushing, bearing, or rod end in front or rear of arm. Upper and lower control arms may be adjustable for length.
(C) Panhard Bar – Panhard bars are permitted to control lateral movement of rearend housing. Panhard bars must be located aft of the rearend housing, and control only lateral rearend movement. Panhard bars may be welded.
(D) Sway Bars – Aftermarket (and factory) sway bars are permitted. Aftermarket sway bars may be welded to both chassis and rear end housing.
(E) Torque Arms – torque arms are permitted for use in this eliminator.
(F) Ladder Bars – Permitted for Naturally Aspirated Engines only.
(G) Mini-Tubbing - Permitted for Naturally Aspirated Engines only
Prohibited Suspension Components – Any suspension component not specifically permitted is strictly prohibited. The following components are prohibited:
(1) Track Locators – aftermarket track locators (of any type) are strictly prohibited.
Wheelbase – Stock wheelbase (for model year) must be within 1-inch (1.0") of stock.
Shocks & Springs permitted – Aftermarket factory-replacement shocks & springs are permitted.
Coil-over shocks and springs are permitted on rear provided they are installed in the factory shock mount position.
Wheelie Bars – Prohibited.

CHASSIS & SUSPENSION: CHASSIS & ROLL CAGE
Chassis – Stock chassis is required.
Roll Cage, General Description – Any NHRA-accepted roll bar or roll cage is permitted that complies with applicable E.T. & MPH and meets NMRA-class requirements.
Floorpan – Factory, unaltered floorpan is required, although minimum floorpan modifications are permitted for chassis reinforcement, roll cage, or shifter clearance.
Frame Rails & Subframe Connectors – Stock, unaltered frame rails must be retained in the front and rear and must be unmodified. Subframe connectors may extend through floor, provided floor is completely welded to connector.
Cowl Area – Cowl area of chassis may not be altered, modified, cut out, or removed for any purposes.
Steering Column – Exact stock-type or stock-replacement steering column required. Factory plastic cover for steering column must be in place.
Firewall – Firewall must be stock and unaltered. Firewall must be in the stock location. Firewall may not be notched.
Transmission Tunnel – Transmission tunnel must remain stock and unaltered. Removable transmission tunnels and/or floorpan panels are strictly prohibited.
Inner Fender Sheetmetal – Front frame rails, radiator core support, and inner fender Sheetmetal must remain in stock location and must be unaltered.

DRIVETRAIN: TRANSMISSION
Transmissions – General Description – This eliminator is designed for Ford automatic transmissions and aftermarket manual transmissions.
Permitted Manual Transmissions – Aftermarket racing manual transmissions will be permitted. Very limited transmissions and drive train modifications permitted. Only permitted manual transmissions are: T-5, T-45, T56, Tremec, Tremec TKO, Jerico 4-speed, Jerico 5-speed, G-force 4-speed, G-force 5-speed and Top loader 4-speed. Racing aftermarket manual transmissions (i.e. Jerico, Gforce) must add 150 lbs. Pro-shifting of transmissions is permitted. Only manual transmissions designed for clutch-assisted operation are permitted. Any transmissions designed for clutchless capability, or those that appear to have been modified for clutchless capability, are prohibited. Planetary-type transmissions are prohibited. Manual transmissions with torque converter are prohibited.
Clutch type permitted – Any single-disc type clutch is permitted, including long-style, adjustable pressure plates.
Automatic Transmissions – Any Ford automatic transmission with torque converter is permitted. All transmissions must retain factory-replacement style internals. (i.e., C4 high performance direct-replacement components in a C4 only.) Retrofitting or crossbreeding transmission internals is prohibited. Lock-up, or planetary-style transmissions are strictly prohibited. Aftermarket shifters are permitted, but all shifts must occur manually. Lock-up automatic transmissions are prohibited, with the exception of those Ford AOD transmissions that were OEM-equipped for lock-up operation.

DRIVETRAIN: REAR END
Rear end types permitted – Any rear ends are permitted.
Spools – Spools are permitted.
Gear Ratios – Any gear ratios are permitted.
Axles – Aftermarket racing axles are permitted.
Rear End Width – Any rear end width is permitted.
Brakes Permitted – Aftermarket brakes are permitted.
Driveshafts – Aftermarket steel or aluminum driveshafts permitted. Composite driveshafts are prohibited.

TIRES
General Description – Racing tires permitted on front and rear of vehicle. Slicks are permitted on rear tires.
Maximum Measured Tire Size – Maximum measured tire size of rear tires is as follows: 28.6-inches (28.6") tall x 10.6-inches (10.6") wide. Regardless of rim size or "advertised" tread width; actual measured tread of tire is limited to 10.6-inches.
Modular Shootout Tech Procedure for Measuring Tires – Tire width will be measured by Modular shootout tech using a "go-no go" gauge. If you tire does not fit cleanly into the gauge, it will not be permitted. Tire height will be measured by checking the rollout of the tire in question. The rollout will be measured at 10-psi inflation.
Tire Shaving – width or tread – Tires may not be shaved for either width or tread depth.

RACE QUALIFICATIONS
Tow Vehicles – Vehicle must be driven to the staging lanes under it's own power. Tow vehicles are prohibited in staging lanes, or on return road. After completion of pass, vehicle must drive to the scales under it's own power, and must drive off the scales under it's own power. Vehicle may be towed from the scales to the pits. Any crewmembers approaching the vehicle (near the vehicle) at or before the scales will result in immediate disqualification of qualifying pass (or elimination from competition). Cars that break may be towed back to the scales (or the pits) with the approval of the Modular Shootout Tech Director. In all other cases, pit support vehicles (example: golf carts, trucks, 4-wheelers, mini-bikes, etc) are prohibited beyond the scales.
Safety Equipment – As specified by current N.H.R.A. rules.

WEIGHT: BASE WEIGHT
Naturally Aspirated 2600 LBS
Nitrous Oxide 2,850 LBS
Supercharger 3,200 LBS

WEIGHT: PENALITIES OR BREAKS
Add 150 pounds for aftermarket racing manual transmission. i.e. Jerico, G-Force or any Pro-shifted trans
Add 200 pounds for 311 to 360 CID engines.
Deduct 100 pounds for street-type supercharger systems.
Add 100 pounds for aftermarket EFI systems with power adders.



Remember these are only proposed rules.

Any way, Dave, when you have time, the only thing I would change or ADD I guess you could say to this list for rules for Renegade, is allow the Procharger F1 SC along with the D1 R and even possibly the D1 X blower....

Also, how about a 2V weight break as well??? Say 150lbs for running a 2V under 311 cubic inches and say 50lbs weight break for someone running a 2V bigger than 311, say a 5.4 motor....

The D1X will be allowed "IF" brackets come out that allow them to be used for an 8 rib belt. They also must be mass produced and available to everyone as well. Custom bracketry can not be used. Same goes for any chance of an F1R being allowed.

Not that I am an expert but wouldnt a Novi 1000 be considered a street blower and therefore qualify for the weight break?

Well I will go out of the way and say that single turbochargers are/will be allowed by themselves. However you don't see turbocharger setups without intercoolers for reliability issues. Intercoolers are prohibited in renegade. Twin turbos are illegal because they are considered 2 power adders (or one very large outlet)

Twin turbos are said to have an unfair advantage. They are considered 2 power adders or theorically one very large power adder. Twin turbos are illegal in all heads up classes except for the very radical ones like outlaw and pro 5.0.

Powerdyne, Kenne bell 1500 series, Vortech S/SQ/E trim, Novi 1000, and ATI PSC1 will almost certainly will have some kind of weight break. We will look into this more. I can't promise it at this very second, but it looks very likely.

Dave, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. Unless I have the wrong impression, does that mean that all of the prochargers on the list run without intercoolers in Renegade?

From what I can tell this is supposed to be"modular renegade" not efi renegade. These rules are a copy of renegade rules. with respect to the intercooler topic id like to see both blowers and turbos run intercoolers respectively. If you are going to make a class specific to mod cars why duplicate pushrod motor rules and just change the name? I may sound aggresive but Im just asking a ? so a realistic answer would be appreciated. Thank you in advance

Jade, The reason I used the EFI/Renegade rules as a base format, is because they already have a fairly sound set of rules. It is probably one of the most competitive classes out there and I believe that was Dave's intention for the class. There will be cars competing in both NMRA & FFW's Renegade classes this year. This class gives them basicly the same rules that they will be racing with already. That is also why I posted them here. To get feedback from the racers on how they feel about the rules and to make suggestions.

Yes, every blower in Renegade runs with an intercooler. Thats the way its been done for years.

Well Dave, I was getting really optimistic about attending and making an appearance but I guess that since NO INTERCOOLERS kind of inhibits me. Maybe you will change them but we will see.

Kind of strange to allow the P-1SC but no intercoolers when that is how they were designed? Oh well

Also, I understand no Twin-Turbos but why no Singles w/ maybe a weight addition?

Do you mean "..every blower in Renegade runs WITHOUT an intercooler." ??

Since this is modular racing, and since the P-1SC is a large base of the modular street crowd, why couldnt you allow intercoolers?

No problem. This class is called "Renegade". It's based on the EFI renegade rules used both by NMRA and FFW. Highlights of the class rules.

1. The inlet restrictor limits how much air can come into the motor and basically levels the playing field for the blowers.
2. No intercoolers, this rule is to make it a tuners class. To make 25 psi or more at high discharge temps and make the car live is the challenge.
3. NO cog drives. Again another rule that both restricts unfair advantages of bigger blowers, and is challenging at the same time. Making big boost on an 8 rib belt is a challenge.

4. No Powerglides, must have 3 speeds that are streetible to use.

These are the basic concepts of Rengade, these concepts are what make the class so popular. It's also what seperates the class from Pro Mod which is unlimited.

By my terms of "modular friendly" means that I am taking some of the rules away that favors pushrod motors. Currently in FFW and NMRA no modifications to the intake runners may be permitted. In a mod motor car that means the car can't make power and it will fall on its face. Also currently stock throttle body's must be used. I find that rule to be way to restrictive as you already restrict air flow into the engine by the 3" sleeve and the 8 rib belt. These rules will be thrown out in favor of Mod motor cars.

Just a Question, not a flame by any means!

Just a question. You guys and/or gals (just being PC) asking about intercoolers and turbos. Are you looking to compete in the Renegade class with your "daily" cars?

I'm just asking because I dont think some people realize that these cars are going to be running in the mid 9's @140+. If you are looking at the rules for Drag Radial, maybe Dave can make excepions to some of the rules for that class.
