I haven't looked into this too much, but for the rim size I have (17x8 factory split 5 spokes) the only DR's I can get from Nitto are the stock size 245/45/17 or 275/40r/17. I was told the 255's would look great, but looks like that is not an option. If Nitto doesn't make a 255, should I go with the 245 or the 275 for the back rims?

The 275/40 Nitto DR's will fit on the stock 17x8 wheel.....(thats the current setup that I have) although some will disagree and tell ya that ya should go with the 245/45's outback...in the end, its your decision :)

Does the DR have a stiff sidewall? Does that help rectify the problem of the seal? Still would love to know if they make anything inbetween 245 and 275.

I just put the 275/40-17's on my stock 17x8 rims.
Very happy with it. First, the 275 555R (drag radial) is NOT that much wider than the stock
245. At a glance it's hard to tell. The
275/50-15's I had on my old car were much more
obvious and seemed wider to me.

Nitto recommends a 9.0" min width, but the sidewalls don't look like they're pinched in
with the stock rims. The sidewalls on these seem
stiff to me. I like the way they handle very
well (old car and new car, '96 Cobra).

Bottom line: Go for the big ones. They're not
that big. Good luck!
