The Bosch sensor that I got when I converted to Holley EFI failed. Thinking that maybe I had it too far upstream which may have led to its demise, I decided to relocate the bung further down the pipe.

While I had the exhaust apart, I thought I would check the catalytic converter on that bank to see how it was holding up. Turns out--not too well. The thing was completely gone! Checked the other cat and it was still intact but you could get it to slide back and forth in the housing. Thought I better gut it so it didn't come loose. It was way more difficult than I thought it would be.

These were Magnaflow spun metallic high flow cats. Couldn't find the remains of the missing cat anywhere. I run Flowmasters so it might be tucked in a corner of the muffler somewhere but a quick check with my infrared thermometer says no. Surely the thing didn't just vaporize. Weird.

I've heard really good things about those cats. How many miles were on them?
