So here is my issue, I was running 15X10 Weld Draglites with a 6.5" inch backspace. I switched to the Weld Magnums so I would have four matching rims. The Magnums only have a 6.0" backspace. The tires will now sit out 1/2" more than I would like.

I've never narrowed a rear, not that I will on this one. I just want to know what to expect when talking with my chassis guy. How far do the axles sit into the spool, can I get away with cutting the axle tube down an inch or so and then welding it back up with an inch taken off and not have a problem with the axles hitting each other. I know running 9 inch ends would be a good idea as well but I did just buy new c-clip eliminators and axles. Do I need to have the axles cut and re-splined?

I'm not ready to do a mini tub just yet and was thinking this might help for now with the rims not sitting too far out. I am running coilovers that are mounted inboard so I don't have to worry about the rims hitting the shocks.

Found out from my chassis guy this afternoon that I can just cut 3/4" on each side then cut 1" off the axles and no resplining is needed on the strange axles since they have about 5" of spline new so you can trim them as needed.

I really like my Convo pros but never liked that they stick out a little 15x8.5 5" back spacing 4 lug. So last year I narrowed the rear about an inch and cut the axles the same. Had the ends put back on since I have c-clip elim. After that I was able to lower the car without hitting the tires. Looks much better!

Yeah I really like the look of the Magnum's which are in a 6" backspace. With the Draglites I was running it had a nice look with the wheels tucked in but they had a 6.5 inch backspace. I know they will stick out a little if I don't cut the axles and the axle tubes.

Tucking in the wheels gives it a much better look.
