I have a friend that's considering getting a new GT in the near future(converted him from imports by making him test-drive an '02 GT  ), and I need some suggestions on the best bang for the buck bolt-ons.

I rode with him during the test-drive and the 1st 3 things that screamed for changing(imo) were:

1. gears (3.73's or 4.10's??? not sure which to reccommend to him)
2. shifter
3. sub-frames.

Past these what give the best gains per dollar?

p.s. please excuse my ignorance(never messed w/ a 2-valve before) and TIA

Shifter (this should be in your closet when you take delivery of the car, the improvment is huge)

Subframes (they are next on list)

gears (there is a large debate on which is better), most people seem to think 3.73's or 4.10's. 3.73's for a daily driven car, with limited track time, 4.10's for a street/strip car still daily driveable. 4.30's are even there for a mostly track NA car. 3.73's also for blower.

the stock H-pipe, is the biggest restriction in the bolt-on area, and ofcourse don't forget about the weld-in mufflers for the sound.
