Is this or similar still a requirement with forced induction versus factory ignition?

I have always run one box or another, but have read where some are saying the aftermarket box does no more than the factory ignition spark wise.

Opinions?

Putting another car together and have a couple boxes, but don’t want to waste my time if it’s not needed.

Not needed. 550hp here, no MSD box required. Gap your plugs a little closer, go with one colder, you're good. If your tune is right, it'll run hard.
