Looking for a starting point with timing,
I have a 72 302 .030 over, GT40 y303 heads, hydraulic mystery cam? 70mm no intercooler, Demon BT carb 650, motor calculated out to be 9.4:1 I will be running 93 octane.
Going to start out with 6lbs of boost
I am going to lock the dizzy down, and use the timing master to pull timing for the boost.
I was thinking starting at 20 degrees and 1 to 1 on retard?
Looking for opinions
Thanks

Is your distributor able to be locked out, how does it advance? I use a efi dist. on my blow thru and run timing locked at 18 and am on 10lbs . This is very safe setup that I'm doing as I'm still learning the tune part of a blow thru combo. If you lock out at 20 on 6lbs you don't need to pull any timing.

The dizzy is a MSD billet and it has mechanical advance, I was going to tack weld it to "lock it". but at 20 deg. the motor will not start hot.
So I put in the lightest springs so that mabye it would be advanced 100% by the time it starts building boost and then take out from there.
I am going back together now from loosing a head gasket from detonation.
I am thinking mabye a total of 23-25 and then pull 1 to 1?
Thanks for your reply
