Ok, here is my situation.....

A few days ago the passenger side ball joint on my 94GT started singing a very squeaky tune. Sprayed it with WD40 and it immediately got nice and quiet. I have since priced out Ball Joint replacement vs. stock replacement arms. In both cases, the parts and labor involved put me right near a pair of MM Tubular Control Arms-

Non-offset Front Control Arms, 1994-04 Mustang

Since I already have their CC Plates and a brand new set of SA Koni Yellows waiting to go in, I am only a coil over kit away from being being done with the whole front end for the most part. The car has, as far as I know, either Motorsport B or C springs in it.

What is a good Coil Over Spring Rate for a street driven car that runs on crappy Southern New England roads? Should I stay right around 300lbs.?

I have every intention of calling MM tomorrow to get their advice. I am just curious what you folks may have experience with.

Once the front end is done, I am going to take care of the rear lower control arms and shocks. At that point(few weeks out) I will probably get a matching pair of rear springs if MM recommends it.

What say you all???

Thanks.

Do you auto-x or HPDE? If not, 275# will be plenty; nice ride, decent handling, the bottom of the range handled by the Koni yellows. For slightly more aggressive street handling, go 325#. For auto-x/hpde, go #375, the max suggested by MM for that dampener.

275lbs. is the bottom of the Koni range? I was not aware. Sounds like 300lbs is where I will probably start.

My first set of coil-overs was 300#/in, living in southeastern CT. I think most folks would be happy with 300#/in, particularly matched with good dampers.

Just ordered the Coil Over kit. Spoke with MM today about rates. They are going to contact me with a questionnaire regarding springs. So we will see what they recommend. Couldn't swing the A-Arms this week. So they will have to wait a bit. Oh well.

I know this thread is a few months old but what did you decide on spring rates? I ordered CO for my 93gt and have a panhard bar with torque arm I'm about to install. I am trying to decide on from spring for the coil overs with bilsteins struts and if I should get the lighter or heavier TA springs.

I had thought 300 pound front with the lighter torque arm spring.

I have 300# with Bilstein HD's and the MM C/O kit on the front, Panhard in back. I am about to go PM3L with the lighter TA coils.
PM Jack Hidley on here. He will get you hooked up.

Swapped to the 500/400, not as stiff as i thought it was going to be. However the car does feel more firm around corners.
