I bought a race ready 86 2.3 carbed LX notchback to race on a high banked 1/4 mile asphalt oval and the car is and has to remain essentially stock (including tires and rims).
I'm looking for advice to help make this car go. The car was raced on this track but was not set up for this track so some tweaking is must! Our race team races in other divisions but not this one so we have some knolwledge of set-up. I have been told that suspension is key so we are reasearching this as much as possible.
Any ideas?
I'm also looking for spare parts (3.45 rear end gears, transmission, suspension, body panels).

Get in car, fasten seat belt, put key in ignition switch, push clutch pedal to floor, turn key clockwise until engine starts then let go, put gear selector in 1rst gear, release clutch, repeat clutch depression and release for subsequent gears. That's about it, turn left at the end of the straights and you should be good to go.

Just poking fun. I don't have a clue what advice to give you and I don't think a search of this forum will help you much either.

Thanks. I'm going to keep trying. The 4 cylinder Mustangs are popular mini-stock cars in the New England area so I think someone may have some good ideas.
I appreciate the humor.

if you have to stay essentially "stock" then you really can't do much of anything can you.

what can and can't you do?

btw, where are you racing it at? somewhere in NH? like lee?

I'm racing the car in Woodstock. We can't do alot to them but there is always "wiggle room" in the rules. The heads are not supposed to be ported or polished, shocks have to match side to side, you can only run 70 series used tires. As you can tell, the car has to remain pretty much stock.
