Good afternoon ladies and gents! I need some input if anybody has any. I have been in contact with the original owner of my 1987 Mustang GT and he tells me the original color of the car was Smoke Grey, code 1K. He states the color almost looked white, but after further review realized it was a very light grey with a reddish orange accent stripe. In 1987 it seems light grey is identified as color code 1K and is not the color of the car (according to LMR's chart). Apparently Ford used the same color code in 1988 and 1989 and the color of the vehicle was what is seen in the attached photo. After some research, some people refer to this color as "dove grey" which is not an official Ford color designation that I'm aware of.
Code 1D is Smoke Poly and is certainly not what I am referring to. The photo attached is the clearest/highest resolution photo I could find of this color. I am curious if Ford integrated this color starting in late 1987. Also, my driver door was replaced before I got the car so naturally the original build sticker is long gone. Any information provided is greatly appreciated!
