For the guys that have Catch Cans on their Valve Covers... Lets see your setups!

Do you have any baffling to prevent excessive oil loss into the CC's? Is it even an issue if you're running a MAP Sensor? Shouldn't the engine vacuum keep the oil in under normal driving?

On a brand new car you will get blow by. Add forced induction and you've increased it just that much more.
As long as you deal with both situations, there are many ways to skin a cat. Both situations such as when under Vacuum & under Positive pressure.

I chose the double check valve PCV (vacuum) & header evac system (boost). Not that it's the best by any stretch. But it deals with both situations with the least amount of parts to fail.

I went with a standard baffled CC. Have 3/8 hose barbs in the valve covers with hose routed from valve covers to catch can. Also have PCV valve Tee'd into that line. Works fine, never leaks from valve covers or smokes excessively.

I run a crankcase EVAC system and never looked back.

Thanks fellas.. I think I will be good running breather cans off each Valve cover since I'll be ditching the MAF for a MAP.

I'll definitely run a PCV Catch Can as well.

I run about 25 psi or so of boost at 8k RPM and street drive. My manifold is a Super Victor EFI with no place for PCV valve.

I have 7/16 hoses off each valve cover. I use a home made catch can with stainless steel heavy gauge scrubber wool to catch oil. McMaster Carr part 7316T61.

I've had three different engines in and this system worked fine. No issues at all.

Same here. Homemade can full of stainless scrubber pad and 5/8 hose to a baffled fitting on top of valve cover. I put a drain on the bottom. Can is baffled inside so vapor goes to bottom then up and out through the scrubbers.I get a bit of vapor that comes out but i don't get any accumulation of oil.

Mine is made from PVC pipe and brass tubing and fittings and is hidden in the fender. The engine lines come in to the brass tubes that run to bottom of a 12" long 2 inch pipe. It filters up through the stainless scrubber pad and vents out a 1 inch vent.

I have a petcock at the bottom. I check it every month or two but it barely has any oil, and nothing ever blows out the vent.

The exception is when a piston cracks. Then it collects oil. :smile2:

The Bud Light heat shield adds 10 horsepower..
LOL!. That pic is from my old setup. pipe was a bit close to the Rad hose and that pipe gets RED HOT! had it melt once on the dyno but the Bud light can fixed that!

Coolant hose melted but the plastic zip-ties lived? That pic must be in 'mock up' I would think?? Using stainless bands now?

FWIW, I've found almost exactly what OEM manufactures use for heat shielding. The company is actually called 'Heatshield Products' and this crap works! Buy a roll of their stuff and let your imagination run wild.

That's nice stuff. Thanks for the heads up. My hose got soft enough to push a big bubble out. It was ok after the can even with those zip ties. That set up is long gone now.

It took a little to set in, but something like this might be the ticket! I could get an air cleaner spacer and plumb the hoses right at the compressor inlet so the breather system uses the the larger Air Filter. It's a cleaner look too compared to 2 Breather Cans. Thanks for the tip!

There's just no way I'd put anything preturbo. 7 different reasons why that's a horrible idea.
But I hope it works out for you.

If the Can does what it's supposed to do, it will be fine. I won't be running 25 psi of boost.. Ecoboost owners can't be wrong.
