That's completely normal.

It's one of the oil drain back holes in the block. It's rough cast and not machined, I've seen a bunch that looked like that.



The piston on the other hand.....:(

I take a die grinder and a bur bit and clean the bottom of the drain hole, radius it flush at the bottom

I wanna say that is normal, but i haven't had a 302 apart in awhile.

Neither of the 3 engines I had, EVER had one of those, looks like a hole to me!


Nope, completely normal. Some blocks are worse than others.


If it's a hole, I'd like to know how it got there. I've never seen a hole knocked in something cast that had smooth edges where it broke.
