went to tnt today, ive seen this black early 90s stang there many times, identical to my old car, so i decide to say hey to he guy, turned out he is running a 6.0 motor ls series, i must say it impressed me.,it had a nice ruble to it, ran 11.11 1/4 mile..bone stock lower, and stock heads with springs for cam..had a ots comp cam and the msd box with edelbroke intake and proform carb..the motor was absolutely nasty dirty, straight from the junk yard..if it was anything else he went threw a lot of trouble to make it look that way.. he made 5-6 passes and drove home..

Sounds like the basic 6.0L swap. I know allot of people hate to admitt it but for the money the motors are hard to beat. What was his MPH?

i dont know..did not look..pretty simple..really the only thing that makes the ls motor so good is the heads flow really good, and it dont hurt the blocks are strong, i have some heads that kick ass, if i was to put them on a 351w ford with a cam and nice intake it would run same or better then a ls motor, but i have about $1500 in my heads, so for the budget a ls motor is very good for using mostly stock parts, i was thinking about putting one in my falcon but it will not fit without putting a mustang 2 front end or cutting the shock towers up..ill use my little 302

There are definitely some other reasons. Try the main caps for example

Thats a 69 351W block
i meant the ls block..ford FE motors are sunk in like that..i like my fords..i dont have a issue with ls motor..Gm took the design from a ford..same 4 bolt head pattern..use sbf dizzy in conversion..same intake-exhaust port layout..sunk in main caps..:p

If only Ford would have copied their own design right? lol

Buddy of mine had a FE (390) in a 66 Fairlane. Pulled the intake off once, and because the intake is actually the top part of the heads too, the intake weighed 87 pounds!! lol

The "sunk" design as you call it has nothing to do with the FE or any other motor from that prehistoric era. With the current targets for weight savings, the use of aluminum, the durability and the lower noise, all the manufacturers are designing their motors that way. The imports do the same.
