No, going to manual steering is out.
The more improvements made to the front end (and the more bind has been eliminated), the more "numb" the steering feel has gotten.
MM parts installed on the front end: K-member, rack bushings, control arms, coil-over kit, cc plates, I-shaft.
It is a stock Fox rack. Rebuilt racks would be a crapshoot. Too many unknowns.
One thought was to slow down the pump? Anyone know of a bigger pulley that will fit?

Looking for ideas, experiences, and suggestions.

Best upgrade I did to improve steering feel was the SN95 rack. Found a '03 GT rack with less than 40k miles for $40. Swapped inner tie rods and couldn't be happier.

Thanks Jubi351,
So yours was a junk yard rack used with the same pump?
Feel at speeds is what I'm looking for. How is the feel at low speed / low RPM, like parking?

Yes, jy rack with same pump. Steering at low speed feels much less assisted which I like. MFE had a write up on trimming the spring behind the relief valve on the pump and there is also the larger pulley option to slow the pump, both of which help lessen the assist. I didn't feel I needed either after the rack replacement.

^^^ My recollection is that I got one off a mid/late-80s 3.8 Tbird back in the day.

Doing some searching here on the Corral, it appears the '94-04 V6s used a pulley that's the same size as the older V6 pulleys that mlanoux and I used - YR3Z-3A733-AA.

I did an 03-04 Cobra rack in my car. It's actually a reman Cardone 22-2000 rack, so i don't know what's actually in it, but at low speed it's pretty heavy. In fact from a dead stop i need to put some effort into the steering wheel, but once moving i like the level of assist i get.

Did new fox inners and outers, solid rack bushings and the MM hybrid shaft. Very nice steering feel.

A little extra caster in the suspension doesn't hurt either
