The 6229HKR 4V headers sould be available this fall (at the latest). They will be DEFINATELY worth the wait. They will be similar in layout and design to the 6230HKR 2V headers (excellent ground clearance, able to remove bellhousing, etc), and will fit 1996-2001 Cobras (2003 is TBD). That means that they will include all the fittings to adapt them to 1996-97, 1998, and 1999-2001 model-year Cobras. MAC and BBK don't even bother with the 1998-style.

1-5/8 primaries and 3" slip-fit collectors. Same off-road X-pipe as the 2V.

Thank you for being patient. Things take time to be done right the first time ;)

I just don't understand why companies like Jegs already have a part number and price for the 4V headers. I think that's false advertising. Advertising/selling something that isn't even manufactured yet. Hope it will be worth the wait though.

More importantly for someone like myself...I need to get some high flow cats. Are they going to make an high flow catalytic pipe to match the longtubes because I don't want to have to weld any in.

Which would be the one to go with for a 4 valve car, the 6135-1 or the 6229-1? or maybe a better question is 1-5/8" or 1-3/4" primaries, which is right choice for a Cobra?

I work at Advanced Auto Parts and we have a catalog full of Hooker exhaust products. It states....

96-98 2v 4.6L Full length headers

6136HKR non-ceramic
6136-1HKR ceramic coating

1 5/8" with 3" collector

Why wouldn't I want these headers???

I've purchased them but I have the engine out putting on some final touches. I should have some drag strip numbers maybe in mid May.

I looked on Holley's website and the 4.6L 2V headers I saw listed were the ones I mentioned.

4.6L (2V) Mustang Headers -
P/Ns 6230HKR and 6230-1HKR
Available 3/13/02

http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/WhatsNew/WhatsNew.html

Unless they've changed the p/n's since then.

The 4V headers won't be out for a couple more months more than likely.

there was also those headers listed in the catalog as well. I just wonder what the difference between the two numbers are. I know the 6136HKR's were a little cheaper.

I have no idea. That's just one of the things that bug me. Different p/n's and p/n's for parts that aren't even in existance yet. Go figure:confused: .

Off to bed now.

Mine are going on next Thursday and I am cutting down my Bassani x-pipe with cats to fit this application. The part number for the 2V is 6230-1HKR and I did get mine from the 1-800 advance auto parts number. I will let all of you know what my gains are and my impressions once they are on. But, for right now, they sit on my livingroom floor.
