A couple of buddies and I made a trip to the local 1/8 mile track for the second time ever and made a bunch of passes. The only other time I went there my best was 9.07 at 77 with a 2.0 60 foot. This time I ran an 8.85 at 79.5 with a 2.0. I've got a 75mm Pro-m, 24lb inj, explorer engine with explorer intake and TB, iron gt-40 heads with 93 cobra valve springs, stock cam and rockers, 2.5 offroad H and full Flowmaster exhaust, SSM lowers, quad shocks and front sway bar removed, stock uppers, King Cobra clutch and 4.10's. I have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and underdrive pullies I haven't installed yet. Running timing at 12 degrees. I know I need slicks but hey, I'm poor so I'm running 275/40's on my 97 GT wheels. I can't seem to get my 60 foot below 2.0 due to tire spin in first. After first it's fine. So, what I'd like to know is, what else can I do for cheap or free? I know I'll gain some from the FPR and UD pullies but probably not much. Anyone else running this combo with helpful advice? Also, what about rocker arms, how much can be gained with them? Thanks guys. Oh, and the reason I want to go faster is that my nephews 90 lx 4 banger we just converted to a carbed explorer motor is hot on my heels and it's not running right yet.....

Free: your UDP's, FPR and maybe 14 degrees of timing, take out weight
Low cost: short belt, best premium fuel, CA bushings
Next expense: slicks, 26" with your 4.10's for the 1/8

you going to be at eddyville this friday? If so look me up. I have a almost brand new set of bfg drag radial. They only have 20 passes my horsepower and 4.62 gears not a good combo they almost hooked for me but was to much up and down on time so went slicks. They would help need 15 in rims though. Also what air pressure are you running in your rear tires? And was the 8.85 with or without a rider?

What are you shifting at? I would expect a couple more MPH out of that combo. With ported GT-40's, Edelbrock RPM carb intake and a comp XE270 cam, my car went 86+ mph in the 1/8th mile. What is the altitude of the track you go to?
