Hey Corral:

I have a new 408w motor that I dropped into my car and have made a couple of passes... The best to date is a [email protected] The car is a 408w N/A... I am running it through a LenTech AOD and letting the car do the shifting... It is shifting 1-2 at 5800 and 2-3 at 5500... The rear end has 4.10's...

R/T: .030
60': 1.494
330':4.486
1/8: 7.001
MPH: 97.64
1000': 9.180
1/4: 11.035
MPH: 120.91

Anything that any of you can tell me that might help me understand my car's performance would be appreciated...

Looks dead up to me. Back when my car ran 11.0s the timeslip was almost identical. Mine had a lil more mph though, I want to say 99 in the 1/8th and 122-124 in the 1/4. If you can nudge that 60' down just a bit, you'll be on into the 10s.

Can you manually shift the tranny? Have you had the car on the dyno? Where does it make peak hp/tq..and where does it start to fall off? Letting it rev a bit higher in 2nd before the 2-3 shift might get you that 10.x.

what cam is in that thing? sounds like it might be shifted to early.

Appreciate the comments...

I might be able to do a little better on the 60' if I get a good prepped track... I just installed an ARB which took my times from 1.55 to the 1.49/1.50 times yesterday... Track prep sucked as it kept raining... Don't think I was spinning on the 1.49 run, but did spin on several other runs...

I have had the car on a dyno, and agree with you Jeff about holding the 2-3 shift... The power drops off at 6000 so the 5500 2-3 shift might be hurting me... I need to get a shift light installed...

Hey Jeff - what kind of rwHP numbers were you putting down to run your posted times... On a Mustang Dyno I put down 375... I thought with my times I would have higher rwHP numbers...

Trev - I have a Jay Allen custom cam... High lift, low duration...

375 sounds about right for your mph. But with ur setup seems like u should run mid 10s. keep us posted!

Unfortunately, I agree - but I can't imagine where the backup in air flow is... The intake is an Anderson Powerpipe, the TB is 90mm, the upper and lower are gasket matched, the headers are hooker 351 swap headers and I am dumping right after the mufflers... Two other things that I can think of is to run cut outs, as well as gasket matching the header adapter plate, but I don't think those are going to get me into the 10's...

I really don't want to swap the cam out, but I'm a bit concerned that my cam guy might have missed the configuration on this one...

What is the raceweight? The timeslip is pretty well matched up as far as 60 ft, 1/8 mile, mph, etc... If the car's raceweight is 3300-3400 lbs, you're not too far off what it should be running. If its lighter, I would expect a few more tenths out of it.
What timing and fuel are you running?

With the C4 mine put down ~401/360 n/a to the tires on a dynojet. Any idea what your race weight is? Mine is 3050 with me in the car.

Your ten second time slip will come with time. Look at you sig. "Completely Streetable" That's a sweet combo, lmao, leaving it in drive and running 11.0's. The ten will come...do you run at SIR?

I do hit SIR at times... I have not been down there this year because it seems they have significantly reduced the amount of TnT days... I have been going out to Bremerton... The car is exactly what I planned it to be... I wanted a "fast" street car... In years past, I have driven it down to the FFW at Fontana and competed in their True Street competition... I laugh at the guys trailering their "street cars" from a 100 miles away, when I have driven mine 6 or 7 hundred miles...

Then I would say at that weight, you're doing alright. Try to shift it manually a bit higher and I bet it'll pick up. 1.49 is not that bad of a sixty foot, especially if it was in the heat!

My last outing I was running 6.61-6.64 @ 104-105 with a 1.49-1.52 sixty foot average and that was in 90-95 degree heat and humidity here in Houston. As it cooled off in the evening, I went 1.46 sixty foot and [email protected] This would be equivalent to a 10.35 1/4 mile.

Shift it higher. Also, are those headers 1 3/4"? If not you can see a nice increase with those. You need to post the whole combo and we can see where you can pick up. It seems that your target is a 10 sec street car.

When I look at your ET your Short time and your MPH your doing real good the power is saying that your getting as much as there is there . Your mph is horse power and it says your going quick for the horse power your engine is making.
Keep it up your doing something right. Check your top end Rpm you may be geared to low, It looks like your not pulling the mph your ET says you should . Is your converter slipping .

When you get into the automatics I get lost....I do know that converter effects trap speed though too.

I've ran 11.21 at 124 in my 418 powered '85. Same heads, hydraulic roller and a dual plane intake (yes, I know...but it fits under the stock hood).
My 60's are in the lower 1.60's

I agree with everyone else. It looks like you are getting the most out of it right now and doing real good at it. Find some more MPH and you should be able to pick things up a bit. It's possible that if you can launch it harder and get the 60's down to a consistant 1.46-1.47 range you can be solidly in the 10's even with that mph but the AOD may be limiting your launches.

What are your HP numebrs and traccion mods? Looks like a normal timeslip to me.

I appreciate the responses...

To address the questions:

1) I am running 1-3/4" headers.
2) I am going through the traps at 6300 RPM which is just a little after where my car looses it's power (6000).
3) I am running a lock up converter that was configured for my sprayed 302, so it is possible that it is slipping a bit more than I would want it to. I will have to do a RPM/Speed calculation, but I think it is something like 5% which is not bad.
4) Kevin$ - I am running your ARB... Just bought it about a week ago and welded it on... Sure does make my car launch level w/ 0 preload...
5) Mustang Dyno says 375HP. Rear end mods are Steeda U/L CA's, ARB, and 275/60 MT ET Drags...
