I was wondering if anybody has had a heat soak problem with the intercooler getting so warm that it causes the engine to over heat, if I street drive my car it will slowly creep up then all of a sudden it is 205* and climbing, my set up is 94 g with 363, and precision 76/75 turbo, intercooler is 26" x 13" x4" with 3" piping and automatic, mark 8 fan and 160* thermostat. This just has me baffled as to why the temperature is ok for about 10 to 15 minutes and then just climbs. BTW I have tried a different thermostat already.

The only real way to answer your question without just experimenting or guessing would be to know the radiator water outlet temperature where it goes to the engine.

It is possible you are heating the oil, but it is much more likely the radiator outlet temp is going about the required temperature to keep the engine at whatever the t-stat calls for. The intercooler blocks a lot of air, plus the turbo adds significant heat.

My system requires the radiator outlet be about 12% colder than the target temperature or it just will not regulate. If I set my pump speed controller (which senses the normal T-stat position) to 170F, I have to have the water outlet from the radiator at 150 F or even cooler. If I let the water out of the radiator creep up to 160 with the electronic pump speed at 170, the engine temp will be unstable and want to stay above 180 all the time.

The water out of the radiator has to be a good amount below the t-stat, or the t-stat just will never regulate.

I had to modify my Derale fan controller so it regulates the water outlet tank to 145F because I want to hold the engine to 160 minimum to 180 max. I pull air through a VW radiator for my water Intercooler, and then through the Mishimoto engine water radiator. Part of the air not going though the VW radiator goes through a transmission cooler. All of that stuff either adds heat or blocks airflow.

My transmission temp is on average 15* cooler than the motor, i tried cooling the car with the water hose and it helped dropping the temp, so i have ordered a new radiator hopefully this will help some and i can start putting some miles on this thing. i am so aching to bust some LS #ss.
