My 13 yr old step son is in love with mustangs. So I bought a 88 mustang coupe for 500 bucks.
We plan to build this car.

I come from the mopar world and have a built 67 dart gt with a stroked small block pounding out 630 hp. Mini tubbed and all done on a tight budget.

Now I am learning about these Ford's.
I picked up a 351w from a 95 f150 with 250kms for 160 bucks.
I have done a bunch of reading for the 351w swap.
The boy and I have a 5 inch cowl hood that needs some tlc.
We have to rework the shock area. And the rear quarter panels. We plan to tub it out since we will be cutting and welding in that area anyways.
Lots of parts to find but we have 3 years till he has a legal licence.
Planning to put the mustang up on a rotisserie like I did with my dart.
Gives the boy a chance to learn welding, engine stuff, interior, mechanicals, body work and everything else in between.
This way he is encouraged to find a job to get parts. If he is buying parts he won't have money to buy drugs.
Yes I will be helping him along the way financially but it's as much my project as it is his.
My image of performance is on the line too :)

That sounds great, I have two young boys and am planning doing the same as well once they get a little older (only 1 and 3 years old). I?ve already told my wife I need another project but it will be for them of course lol. I did the same thing with my father when I was growing up and we still have that ?69 big block Chevelle. You will find a lot of good info on this site to help you along with your build. Congrats and good luck
