I just bought a set of unported Trickflow wedge heads and am wondering how fast youguys have gone without port work or any other added machining. I'm hoping for a 11.999999 Et and was wondering if youguys thought that could be done with a stock bottom end and these heads. My car with stock heads, cam and bottom end has gone 13.2 @102. The car weighs 2800 w/o driver.

I have been 11.60 with the 302 and 10.24 with the 408. all the heads have done is a good valve job

So you need to pick up roughly 12-13 tenths. I dont think the head swap alone is going to get you there. Your going to need a serious 60' time also.

Looking at your posted time, not worrying about some other guy who go's 11's, as Swinerton said, you need quite a bit to go from 13.2 to 11.9X if all you are doing is changing the heads. I've seen so many cars with those heads at GLD over the years, chances are you'll trap somewhere around 108 MPH with them and run mid to low 12's if you do nothing else. You aren't going to go 11's with 108-ish MPH unless you have extensive suspension changes and get very low 60 foot times. For the average guy, I'd bet the farm you end up somewhere around [email protected] or so. That could vary obviously, it's going to depend on how your trap speed pans out and your setup and ability as a driver.

I guess I sort of worded this wrong. The heads aren't the only changes i'm making, I'm also going with a vic JR. intake or RPM Air gap (haven't made up my mind) and an FTI cam/spring package. I may also go to a set a long tube headers when I decide what size primary tubes would be best. I just wanted to see if these heads out of the box were capable of 11 sec ets on a stock bottom end 302 with the right supporting mods. Also the car has great 60ft capabilities as I went a 1.6 on a 100 shot with the stock motor. But nitrous is no longer in the equation.

Then the response would be quite different. I've seen a bunch of guys go 11's easy with the "right stuff" and those heads... I based my reply off the 13.2 and just doing the head swap...

It will be a whole top end swap. (fti cam, intake and headers) I just wondered how capable these heads were. Especially with a stock bottom end. Hopefully Ed can point me in the right direction for the intake and headers.

Greg @GLD stated it perfectly. My 90 LX with out of the box TW heads ran 12.49 at 108 on the motor at 3200lb race weight.

I added a Novi 1000, 6 lbs of boost and it has run a best of 11.96 at 115so far...

It's very possible if you can get a low 1.60 or better 60', and can do a good job clicking the gears. You're going to want more than a 3.73 gear though.

Shouldn't be a problem at all... my car with out of the box tw 170cc heads, vic. jr. efi, lunati 218/228 .536 .536 112 with 1 3/4" LT/3" prochamber/produmps, 3.73 gears and a raceweight of around 3300 went 12.35 at 109 with a 1.67 60 ft... if you're not going with a poweradder I'd look for more gear like a 4.30 to get the car motivated out of the hole harder.

I wanna say 347ci at 3050 lbs, stock twisted wedges, 11.50s is what it ran on motor and 10.70s on 100 shot.

Ported with same cam as before, but went to Holley Systemax instead of Victor 5.0, [email protected] n/a and [email protected] on a 75 shot running out of converter/gear.

So do youguys think 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 longtubes. And how bout the vic Jr. or RPM airgap?? And yes I plan on adding gear also but that would be at a latter date because I haven't sold my nitrous yet. Remember this is a stock bottom end.

I run 4.10's with 28" tall tire and I see 7.80-8.00's in 1/8 mile depending on time of year. Only went to quarter mile once and ran 12.20's on some wore out slicks. I'm still EFI. I still have all creature comforts except for power steering.

Get the Air Gap if you plan on running it on the street any. And put the 4.10 or 3.90 if you want to run nitrous. Oh yeah and 1 3/4 with 3" from there back. If I had to do my exhaust again it would be that way.
