I'm replacing the upper diff. bushings in my rear end and just wondering how far do I press in the new ones?

Thanks.

I have the MM tool but it's not the original bolt so I'm not sure if it would end up in the same place.

.3", that's from the lip on the shell to the ear right? Others have said I should just center it in the housing.

0.300" is the gap between the inside edge of the bushing shell to the inside edge of the diff ear. When I still had the stock uppers, I just beat new bushings in place with a piece of pipe and a hammer. :)

I did, however, lubricate the outside of the shells with some anti-sieze to make the job a little easier.

Ford specs call for the bushing to be installed so that the bushing lip is 36mm from the back of the cast iron ring.
