Does the rear need to be supported when installing the loop? I'm assuming so, to keep the d/s at the "normal" angle.

Also, how far from the front U-joint should it be?

1) Let your rear wheels hang free, it lowers the drive shaft and gives you more room to slide the loop around it. Don't worry, it's not so low that it impedes the installation.

2) I was told not to weld the loop since the floor pan is so thin, and incase you ever need to remove it for some reason.

I did consider welding mine because I have subframe connectors, but that would require more expense (a pro doing it). So I'll just rip out the carpet and drill some holes...
