Hi Guys,

Since I got a rollcage installed the torsion rod no longer fits right and lid won't stay up. What are my options other than the 2x4 I'm currently using.lol. Is there a pre-fabbed aftermarket kit that uses hydraulic strut supports?

I can take a few pics later & should be able to dig out the part numbers of the brackets and hydraulic struts I used. I have a set of vert hinges I was gonna use but I figured I would try it this way before using the vert hinges & sacrificing the amount the trunk opened

I used these ball studs at the trunk hinge https://www.liftsupportsdepot.com/am-ball-stud-10mm-3-8-5-16-x-18-s316-stainless-1-shaft/

and these brackets mounted just behind the rear seat back
https://www.liftsupportsdepot.com/fo-ball-stud-joint-10mm-3-8-2-bolt-flat-bracket-s304-stainless/

they offer a bunch of different bracket styles and angles to mount the lifts any way you wanted. I'd have to get the number off the lifts I ended up using, I ordered a couple different pairs to see what would work best & I'm happy with how it works. When hitting the trunk release it opens up about halfway on it's own and the trunk still opens fully by hand

Just an update for anyone looking to do this or anyone that comes across this thread in the future, here's the link to the lift supports I used. It also lists the technical specs so should be able to source them from anywhere that carrys them

Thank you for the shopping list of parts. I've wanted to do this for a while, but hadn't found the time to go figure it out on my own.

I've used liftsupportdepot.com as a source for replacement struts for my old IST "Hood Lifter" kit on my coupe, so they are a great resource for anyone doing a project like this. I'm going to get my parts ordered now!
