Cam dowel pin is sticking out past the timing set. What do I do?

Anderson B31 cam
Cloyes 93535X9 Billet Timing set
FTI Cam retainer plate
95 SN95 GT


Timing set issue?

Can you tap it in farther?
Did you loctite it in? If so then it probably bottomed out against a puddle of loctite in the bottom of the hole.

Or..If everything is correct then pull it out and grind it off..no big deal.

Common, that pin measures 1.380, take .100 off to around 1.280 and it will sit just below the surface. Provided you have a way, such as a belt sander or bench grinder

Tried tapping it in with a bronze punch. It would not budge. I ended up cutting it down. Worked perfectly.

I have ground the washer down that overlaps the dowl pin for clearance before. I suppose I should have just ground down the pin.
