so i swapped to a PA performance c4 trans it was in a buddies car for maybe 300 miles. manual valve body and all. the converter seems like its slipping to much?? is this possible? i know its not a lock up converter but the trans is getting silly hot after two min of driving and i feel like i might be blowing through the converter.

this is my first ever performance auto trans so i have no idea what im doing. what is so special about a turbo cars converter compared to everything else??

if the converter is blowing through does this create alot of heat??

Start by getting a big cooler and make sure its getting air flow. Second u could try a different fluid to righting up the converter some. If its slipping really bad it could be the trans and not the converter. C4s are easy to burn up when they overheat with turbo cars.

Turbos produce lots of mid range power and torque and come on strong...they need to be built right or you will blow right through it.

Definitely get a huge trans cooler and id say a fan on it for a non locking converter.

Ive got a a huge 45k btu cooler on my setup even with a locking converter.

When you say blowing thru the converter, exactly what are you seeing. If you have a transbrake how high can you take your RPM's to on the brake,or what does it flash to initially, while cruising when you floor it, what RPM are you initially flashing to like 5K, on the 2-3 shift under WOT what is your RPM falling to, it should fall between 800-1100 ideally is what I was told. If your making a bit more power than your buddy's car it very well could be blowing thru on your car, I found that Hy-guard hydraulic fluid from John deer will tighten it up some, Guys at PTC showed me that on my old C-4 twin turbo set up, but what works best is selling it and getting a TH-400 and never look back.
