Hello all,

I have a 93 Coupe with 94/95 Discs/spindles/etc.

What are some cheap upgrade ideas to upgrade my fronts? I had looked at maybe Cobra, Cobra R's but i dont know what I would need to change to go from 94/95 to Cobra or even the Cobra R's besides the obvious rotor/caliper. Any help would be appreciated or any other ideas you might have.

I had looked at the GT500 rotors/calipers but the adapter kit alone is $350 and that seems really pricey for 2 pieces of metal and 2 wheel spacers.

Thanks in advance.

what size wheels and what type are you running?

you need 18s to run GT500 brake setup or any other 14" rotor.

i think 17's will clear the cobra R setup

and spindles from 94-04 use the same caliper/rotor so you are good there.

and what do you have in the back? drums or disc? that will limit you on how far you want to go with the front in terms of size

So, to make sure i understand this correctly, i should be able to purchase the Cobra R calipers/rotors from Autozone and they should bolt right on to my 94/95 spindles that are currently running discs?

I have 94 Cobra 17's that i run.

Rear setup is 03 disc's.

Keep in mind a MC change will be needed if going from 94-95 GT front brakes, to Cobra if you have rear disk brakes The MC requirements may need a smaller bore MC to operate the calipers properly.

You didn't mention if you had rear disks and if there was a different MC already existing. This may change the budgetary needs slightly

Rear setup is an 03 8.8 with discs. I am not sure what MC I have though. This was all done by previous owner.

This sounds all pretty feasible though.

Should I switch to the Cobra MC or does the Cobra R have a diff. MC?

Depends. Do you have the larger 1993 Cobra/SN95 booster as well?

These are my personal recommendations. I'm sure others may have other opinons.

If your setup is the 94-98 GT with the front 10.9" rotors and single 66mm piston, and Sn95 rear disks, the MC you should have is the 94-95 GT/V6 MC with 1 1/16" bore.

Now, if you put 94-98 Cobra front brakes on with the 38mm pistons, I'd probably use the 94-95 Cobra 15/16" bore MC

If you run the 1999-04 13" caliper setup, I'd run the 1" bore 1993 cobra MC (what I have and I like how it feels with the Sn95 booster).

2000 Cobra R brembos? I asked about this before, and a 1" bore 1993 cobra MC was recommended.

That;s what I would recommend based on what the factory does. I'm sure others have made slight deviations due to personal tastes and experience.

if you are referring to 4 piston brembos with 13" rotors that cobra R's came with, i dont think youll find those at autozone.

yeah, i was referring to the two-piston calipers and 13". I believe the calipers came on later models too though.

1993 Cobra R and the 94-04 Cobras got the C4 style PBR caliper with 2 pistons.

2000 Cobra R got the 4 piston Brembos. M-2300-X kit.

Oh, my mistake, when I put the 2000 Cobra R as "my vehicle" in the Autozone website it had the 2-pot calipers listed as replacement parts.
