Yep, BFGs are definitely better at the track.

I just got bfgs last weekend. One good smoky burnout (from then on just spin till you get clean smoke) and with stock suspension on a convert with a ****ty track(could only get 2500 out of my 3800 rpm converter before they spun) i still pulled a 2.0 60 foot. With a collant leak running at 200 degrees with air drawn out of the engine bay. and this is wieghing in at 3550 with me in the car with stock exhuast (killing me with ported e7s and equal lenths can we say bottle neck). ps i have been driving the bfgs every day. you will love them screw nittos they jsut dont stick man. have fun and keep racing.

I will agree that BFG's are better if they are primarily a track tire and tire wear is not a concern. I have had Nitto's when I daily drove my car and loved them. Now that it is not daily driven, I will be putting BFG's on it.

However I don't agree with the quote below. I managed to hook rather well with my "crappy" Nittos. 275/40/17's and I pulled 1.7's with a 2500 rpm launch. Just because BFG's may be better, doesn't mean Nitto's don't hook.

I love the Nitto's for driving to the track, but you can't beat the Bfg's for the hook. They pretty much have no sidewall stiffness.

They both work. The best I ever did on my 245/50-16 Nittos was a 1.73 but on my 275/50-15 BFGs I get mid to low 1.6s every time with a best of 1.60.

No offense taken. I was just letting him know what can be done on them. I know there are plenty of guys out there that have run better on them than I have. FWIW my suspension was bone stock. I also used to run the old Pep Boys specials. I actually liked them. Very consistent low-mid 1.9's. Not bad for a $75 tire (back when they were cheaper).

Like I said, I won't run Nitto's again, unless I need a streetable tire. If you need good tire wear and want traction better than an average street tire Nittos are great. Otherwise, get a real drag tire.

I have Nitto 275/40/17's on my 95 Cobra which is supercharged and run's low 12's. I have never been able to get these tires to hook up. I have a line lock and do a good burnout and have tried various pressure's (14psi-22psi). The best I could get is a low 1.9. From my experience I would recommend the BFG's. I now drive to the track on the Nitto's and switch to Hooiser 26X9 Drag slicks and get consistent 1.6's
