I'm just curious what kind of 60' times you've seen on street tires. Eventually I'd like to run drag radials but I'm on a stock 140k rear end so I am a little apprehensive.

my 86 car did a best of a 1.48 3:73 gear on the cheapest tire i could get. its best et was a 13.40 @106. had stock heads, stock efi intake, stock headers, stock tb, and a t5 tranny. it had a cam in it but not sure what cam but it being a non mass air could have not been to big

do you have a time slip to back that up? that sounds a little outrageous. im saying that you are lieing but 1.48 not only requires traction but also some decent power or an extremely light car.

You sure it wasn't 1.98? No offense, but a 13 second car running a 1.48 60ft. is 100% impossible. The 13.40 ET at that mph also signifies a rather mild 60 ft. since 106mph is 12 second mph with a decent 60ft. Not trying to start an argument or anything....just pointing something out.

i'd have to agree..my car runs 13.20's @ 101-102 on 1.80 60ft times.. 3.55 gears and 3500lbs..also tuff to imagine a bone stock 86 motor(aside from this mystery cam) trapping 106mph

and a 1.48 60ft? on STREET TIRES????

Anybody else cut a decent 60 on street tires? My best is a 1.96 on 245 Sumi's. That was with stock lower control arms too and lots of wheel hop. Im not sure that I can improve on that too much now that I have new aftermarket lowers, but I'm hoping that I can match that on a consistent basis. On that same day I cut 2.0 two other times as well. I'm wondering if a 1.8 is possible.

you probably have a better chance at a decent 60' on cheap, soft street tires like bowtieless said..i'd imagine Z rated rubber is way too hard to get any real tarction off the line

I ran a 1.89 the last time I was at the track with regular 275/40/17 nitto 555r tire, no idea on the air pressure. I don't even make a ton of power and it still has the front swaybar. The car has an MM torque arm/panhard bar with coil overs.

ummm..Nitto 555R's are Nitto Drag Radials
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NIT-180700/

summits website said:
With these Nitto NT555R tires, engineers succeeded in designing a DOT approved, drag racing radial tire that would outperform all other drag radials, provide impressive control and handling, and still deliver up to 15,000 miles of tread life of normal street-driving use. Nitto NT555R's are manufactured with the original tread depth of 6/32nds in.and are constructed with a specially formulated soft racing tread compound to provide maximum traction. However, this soft and flexible tread will wear much quicker than tread compounds formulated for regular passenger cars. These NT555R tires are designed primarily for competition drag racing.

what do you consider "street tires" . . . ? :D

I know of some tigerpaws soaked in special sauce that have been mid 1.5s . . .

but for drive up on some skreet tires and run without changing a thing . . . I have been low 1.8s on 275/60/15 pep boy tires.

Aw come on, you know what I mean. I'm not hosting a competition, just asking what kind of 60' you can cut with street tires, without special sauce.

i was wrong i talked to some friends about my 86 car and he said that the 1.48 was wrong he said he thinks it was a 1.6? but he said the mph was a 104 mph not 106mph. so i thinking it was a 13.40 @ 104 with a 1.6? 60 foot it was on a cheap tire.

1.93 on BFG Radial T/A's. 1.77 best on QTP's. Stock long block 92 5.0. I may be able to get the 60 foot on the radial T/A's down a little if I tried. I only ran it once like that to see if it would hook up with street tires after I put the C4 in it.
