You're basically suggesting VAT Don -- ask Europeans how they like that. Again - the IRS and code doesn't exist to raise money. It exists to allow the raising of money to be used to get policy objectives achieved. They won't do away with it.

Oh I know they won't do it, but I always concentrate on what is right, and fair, not what idiots will do.

The Fair Tax is not a VAT, at all, and nothing like it. It is an all encompassing single consumption tax, which absolutely everyone would pay. All criminals, all illegals, all diplomats, everyone, nobody is exempt. The cost is identical for everyone, the tax rate is printed on every receipt. There are no more embedded taxes, hidden taxes, or changing rates for special people, loop holes etc. That results in the most fair tax possible, funds the government in the exact same amount total, and only citizens receive monthly payments to recoup the basic necessities of living(prebates direct deposited and based on household size(head of household receives it, not the dependents)). Thus in theory, welfare could be reduced in large part, but we now have socialists in charge, they never do the right thing.

Too much tax is made from income tax, corporate tax etc. If any tax changed I think a flat tax would be more appealing to our elected kings and queens. Fair would mean no income tax ?

The free speech site Parlor was shut down Friday. I gather it was from Amazon, Apple, and Google, their server and the application sellers basically? I'm trying to get away from Google, but Amazon is harder to cut ties with.

Arfcom got booted off its servers by GoDaddy. They're just an AR15/gun enthusiast site and no specific citi g of any violations were listed.

It's literally squelching one side of the overall argument.

The big tech thing is very interesting. They are essentially telling people “we don’t care if we lose your business, we can absorb the loss”.

They are monstrous in size, and were (rightfully) concerned that trump was going to start limiting their power due to monopoly status.

They can certainly choose who they do business with. Let’s hope the 75 million Americans who voted red also choose who they do business with.

I'm going to attempt to start cutting back on Amazon purchases and spread my dollars elsewhere. Yes, it will take a bit longer to find things I'm looking for, but it can happen with patience. Plenty of the sellers on amazon also have their own selling sites, just takes a bit more work to find them. Living so far from civilization, we have converted most of our shopping to online.

Or, perhaps I'll start doing my searches through Yahoo now since my email is hosted through them. Don't know if yahoo is any better, though. Haven't heard much on them so assuming they are keeping their head low.

Wow, just wow on the NAR hate speech stuff. Reminds me of public schools attempting to punish students for things they do outside of school (yes, that has been attempted and succeeded in some cases).

We are truly entering uncharted territory, where we have the right to say what we want on our own time, but suffer the consequences when we do it.

It is very rare that I mention anything on social media other than animals or cars. Discovered the other day I had a first cousin delete me after I shared a well thought out and articulated post by Mike Rowe on the current lockdown status and "essential workers" and who decides who is essential. Of course, she lives in California but grew up here in East Tennessee. You'd never know it, as she now has a full California accent LOL.

The difference between now and twenty years ago is the ability for people to actually have proof of what you said because it is screenshot and collected. The ability for the average guy to potentially reach millions is scary to those who wish to squash that ability.

Ok - I'm depressing even myself. Back to cars.

Friday will be six weeks since I dropped the bottom portion of the driver's bucket seat on the Corolla off at the upholsterer's shop to repair a broken spring. As expected, that turned into quite a little repair. But never would I have guessed 6 weeks. Seems most upholstery and body shops have very poor skills when it comes to predicting timelines and costs. The only thing that's worse than that is their ability to communicate proactively with their customers. If I don't call him, I hear nothing. Yesterday during the update call I initiated, he informed me he worked 15 hours on Sat. and Sunday each - 30 hours over the weekend. However, none of it was on my stuff. LOL! They desperately need someone competent in the front office to manage communications. Maybe I should apply....

OK - now I'm depressing myself even further! Hopefully seat back next week.

Yes - the leadership and management processes at small shops is generally not great. A lot of owners do great at their job, but terrible at the management side of it. And the longer it sits, the more delay involved with starting the project. Out of site out of mind.
The general idea would be for the owner to have someone handle that for them or have someone take over some of the work. Of course, if business is good enough they don’t have to worry about a lost customer here and there. But when business gets bad, it’s too late to focus on customer service side.
