so for the past few week ive gone through more alternators than i should of before having a tech look at it. the newest one went out in 5 minutes. i dont think its an alternator issue. a guy told me check ground straps and the wires, but i dont know what the readings should be for the plugs to the regulator or how to check the ground strap.

ground potential should be close to 0 volts as possible on a circuit that is loaded, carrying current.

so i saw there was a whole lot of black #### on my tensioner and alternator and realised at high RPM when the car is warm the belt rubs against the tensioner. it makes sense for the voltage drops and my alternator stated working after unplugging it overnight. but i dont know what could cause it to rub unless misaligned and i mad sure it was straight.
