Car is a 1998 GT with cobra bumpers and an R hood.

Was a turbo 5.4/th400 car I bought as a roller.
"6pt" cage
Built rear with an ARB and a custom fuel tank
Coilovers in the front
PA racing tubular k
And some other parts

Got it delivered to the garage and got to work tearing it apart.

car was an oil disaster and packed full of modular wiring mess

wiring cleaned up for the most part, bay degreased, flaming river manual rack installed and the brakes halfway torn out

Then i picked up this

06 LQ4 6.0 short block, Ls2 style rods/pistons
Pistons are fly cut for ptv clearance
Clevite 77 rod bearings
Arp rod bolts
Arp head bolts
Arp balancer bolt
Melling oil pump
Asp aluminum balancer
Ls2 hd timing chain
Thunder racing trex cam .242/.248 duration at .050 .608/.612 lift 110lsa
Ls7 lifters
Comp one piece pushrods
Patriot extreme gold .660 lift valvespring kit with titanium retainers
853 casting ls1 heads milled .065
Heavily ported on intake and exhaust ports with polished combustion chamber.
Engine is 11.6:1 compression and pump gas friendly

swapped on a GM muscle car pan and into the newly black engine bay it went for a first test fit. Aerospace manual master cylinder also installed

Got my exhaust. Custom 1 7/8 primaries with 3.5" collectors with v-bands into a 3" x pipe

Test fit all the fbody accessories and then out came the engine again to modify the upr mounts to clear the headers

Once that was done i bolted up my TCI flexplate and my new trans

FTI built TH400 with a RM valve body and transbrake. Should be good for 1,000.
They also built a custom billet 9" 4,700 stall converter for me. Highly recommend these guys.

Back in the bay, with a super vic intake, edelbrock rails and 36# ford injectors.
Got the headers slid in as well.
Dirty but back on its feet to get it out of the way for some other

fabbed covers installed, ended up having to switch to a Katech tensioner

Also installed an fbody radiator and Fbody dual electric fans

Then I started tackling the interior wiring

With the AC ductwork out of the way it became apparent that this was also a mess

all cleaned up

I cut the cover from the passenger airbag and will be reusing it to cover the mounting location for the Holley HP EFI ecu
with it snapped back into place you can see where it will go

borrowed the idea from a member on here as well as how ill be doing my cluster

I removed the cluster cover and will be cutting out a piece of ABS plastic to size and reusing the clear cover if possible. This will house the one-wire holley gauges.

Painted the roll bar and re-laid the cleaned up carpet

This evening I started tackling the damaged paint. Its far from a professional job but should make the car livable until I can do a full on repaint.
Unfortunately I didnt order enough paint so I only did the drivers side and rear bumper for the time being. Will do the drivers side problem spots and clear it all in a week or so

Essentially I need to order my Holley system, build a fuel system, measure for my driveshaft and order my 4150 and I can be on the road.

Paints done
New headlights installed

Then I picked up these

RaceStar Dark Stars 17x4.5 and 15x10. Rears are 325/50/15s and the Fronts are 26x6x17's that will be here in the morning.

I also continued "gutting" the car. Removed everything from the trunk and simplified the custom stereo system. Rewired the battery in the trunk and cut what seems like miles and miles of wiring out of the car.

Which gave me an idea. Considering Ill be doing good bit of wiring of my own, I decided to do some recycling. Looks like ill be saving a good bit of money

Very nice. Good inspiration for my own white 98gt project which is getting a lightning engine swap and will be a sn95 "cobra jet" that Ford never built.

It's just a custom built boxed steel mount. They're real simple to do

Everything to finish the car has been ordered. Hopefully we're only a couple weeks away

Ecu, harness, fuel system, sensors, gauges, throttle body and driveshaft parts have all been ordered.
I'm off work the next 2 weeks and plan to get this thing fired up.

Recieved my 4150 and mounted it. sourced the rest of my sensors as well

Wired up the alt, 50/50 chance this is correct, otherwise its a simple addition of a wire

Then I got all my holley stuff in

Which you can see was quite a birds nest upon initial install. pretty simple fix. highly recommend this kit so far, its really nicely done

This is what ends up in the passenger compartment

Reinstalled the dash, made a mounting plate for the ECU

installed my CSR bracket and found a way to use the factory cable cut down

Wiring harness all sorted out

Interior is mostly reinstalled, rest is waiting on me to finish the wiring

Had to buy a new battery, but you can see where the ECU is tied in

Then I plumbed the fuel system. simple -6 throughout. Regulator mounted on the firewall has to be moved but that'll wait for now

reinstalled my aluminum tank

Thats how it sits for the moment. Need to wire the main feed to the alt and fuse box and then find my 12v sources for the ECU. Then ill be ready for fuel and to start the car. hopefully tomorrow.

Finished up some of the wiring but there are still some areas that need buttoned up, so excuse some of the engine bay mess.
This was the 2nd startup and only saw a throttle blip.
The car is open header which is giving my wideband a false reading so it was dumping a lot of fuel until i changed some settings. ended up making a clean pull to about 5k so i could do some data logging.
Got a lot of small things to button up and get a driveshaft in it and then ill put some miles on it.

the exhaust has been hung. Streetability has been increased 100% and it should gain a lot less law enforcement attention. Its by no means quiet though, which is fine by me :nice:

If its hanging a little low in the pic, the rear hangers had yet to be hung.

The exhaust made my wideband(s) happy and i was able to tune in the idle and sub 2k rpm range.
Also, the other day on first start up I actually never set my FP, stupid move but I set it at 58psi today and everything kind of fell into place. I pulled a lot out of the afterstart enrichment table and it stopped burning my retinas. Still running very fat but that'll get dialed out as well once Im mobile.

I measured for my driveshaft
so ill call tommorow and have them get started on building that.
Hopefully Ill get my fans wired up tommorow, im going to build a mounting plate for the fuel pump and wire up the momentary switch for my starter. maybe get started on these gauges

Buncha little crap to do but im actually back to enjoying it

great build man you are giving me some ideas about my car. i have a 98 as well with a 5.4, im debating on whether to do a full N/A re build or go with a cammed, high compression N/A. reading through this makes me want to jump to the 6.0L... dont mean to thread jack.. keep the updates coming.
