1985 notch with turbo LS & 4L80E, 8.8.
What's needed to keep the 8.8 alive?
Who mods 8.8 on Long Island?
Thanks.

Get the tubes welded, 9" ends, strange axles, and there's couple girdle designs you can do to add more rigidity.

Thanks.
I was concerned about the small 2-3/4" tube diameter, and 28 spline count?
All the Ford 8.8 with bigger Ranger, Explorer and 150 3-1/4" tubes and 31 spline need grafting to add the U & L control brackets, and also not sure if the width is OK?

Grand Marquis and Crown Vics rear ends are 3" tubes. They are too wide but if you go with all the mods mentioned its not all that differance in price.

I agree that a 9" would work well, but the higher internal power loss and more weight don't help. I'm pretty sure I won't need to change ratios with any frequency, so the "drop out" feature has no value.
I'd buy an 8.8 already assembled but can't find any with the features I want.
Everyone will make me one for $3,500 -no, thanks, it's not pro stock.

just do a Mustang 8.8, why do something else as they haven proven themselves on many fast cars. Just do as stated above, 31 spline axles, 9" ends, 31 posi or spool and girdle cover.
