I'm about to buy tires for some 15x8 drag lites. I'm def going with a drag radial and most likely the Mickey Thompson. Car has a novi 1220 on it making 480/436 with a TKO600 and 3.73's. Megabyte junior lowers on the bottom hole and tubular uppers. I'm def going with a 275 just not sure if I should go with a 26'' tire or a 28'' tire. And when giving me your opinion please state why. Thanks in advance

To be safe I would say 28". Depending on where you leave and shift you may be out of 4th gear at the top of the quarter. If you run 8th mile either will work.

Do you think the car will feel sluggish with the 3.73's and a 28'' tire. I'm topping out 4th between 125-130 right now at 6k rpms...

I would go 28". I have run 26" before with 3.55 gear and SC. The 26" takes high RPM to run 1/4. The MT 26x10s I ran did not work well on 8" wheels, it works better on 10" wheels, had a lot of walk at > 125 mph. Check the tire you want to run to see what the recommended wheel width is.

Well I was planning to run a 275 on the 15x8. Should I have any issue with this?

I wouldnt run a drag radial at all with a stick car....Its very hard to make a stick car hook with a drag radial due to the fact of the super stiff sidewall of a radial tire. Just run some Hoosier quick time pros or hoosier slicks.

Also what size gears do you run?

I run 3.73's. The car mainly sees street driving but I'm going to start trying to go to the track at least once or twice a month.

What is the rest of your set-up and what times do you run? I run a 11.54 at 121 with crappy 26 x 8 slicks topping out at 6000 with 3.73's. I made 448 / 419 so I'm curious as to the answer to this too......26 or 28?????

Tokico blues up front
Eibach springs (pro kit I believe)

306
Trick Flow Street Heat Intake
Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads
TFS Stage 1 cam
TFS 1.7 RR's
1 5/8 Mac Longtubes
3 inch x pipe with boral xr1 mufflers dumped
Novi 1220 w/ stock 3.33 pulley (7psi)
Powerpipe
AIS Methanol injection (just to keep things cool)
SN95 Electric Fan
Stock radiator :(

480/436 SAE corrected.

I have not run the car because it's on 16'' ROH's with 255 sumitomo's and I go sideway even at 70 currently. I'm putting 15x6 and 15x8 drag lites on in the next week and my buddy is going to let me borrow some 28x10.5w ET drags. I'm hoping they fit on the 8'' wheel ok.

If you want to run a slick go with the M/T 28x9-15 which is really 27.3" tall and will fit great on a 8" wide rim and will dead hook. BTW a 28x10.5w is way to wide for a 8" rim as they need to be on a 10-12 wide rim. If you go with a drag radial get the 275/60's if they fit you will have the best chance getting them to hook on a high rpm launch.

I def feel you will be much happier with a HOOSIER QUICK TIME PRO for street use and a couple times a month goin to the track with a stick car.
I have owned both stick cars and autos. Trust me put a 26x10 hoosier quick time pro n call it a day.

The 275/60/15 fits on the 8'' wheel

Yes but its not the ideal width, but it works you may not have to get as big of a hammer to make them clear(LOL).:hammer:
They call for a 7.5-9.5 wide wheel for them but said they were spec'd on a 8'' wide wheel. So they should fit. And I already removed my quad shocks so hoping I don't have to beat the inners too badly.

so no definitrive answer on the 28's or 26's then???
Doesn't seem so but I think I'm gonna go with a 28 especially since I'm going to run a drag radial and run it about 17-19psi it should hook there if I get the pinion angle set correctly and get the car to transfer. Plus I wanted to go to 3.55's so now I won't need to change gears cause the 28'' tire will basically be like having a 3.55 in the car.
