Has anybody install a super large set of rims 16 x 12 for 13" slicks. I have a 1993 cobra that a race solo II in c prepaired class. I need larger tires than the 275's I currantley running. Help or who can I call? I want to run 13" slicks front and rear and will out out, so I do not have to mini tub. I also am still on 4 bolt, but will change to 5 bolt.

That is exactly what I run on my mustang in C Prepared. And Oh boy is it fun!! Can you say gription? My combination requires spacers and slight, :rolleyes: fender mods. I get great deals on 14 1/2 lbs wheels too. What can I tell ya?

A 4 1/2" Backspace wheel should work, though you'll need to do some fender mods for them to clear....I'm no expert on Goodyear tires, but the 13 & 14" hoosiers are for the rear only when squeezed on a smaller rim.

There are several fast people running 24x11.5 Goodyears on 11" wheels with very minor fender mods...this might be a better option rather than cutting up a CObra.

Join the CP Mailing list and see if anyone knows about Ucker/Padberg's setups.

Isn't "ricey" defined as items added to a car that don't add performance? :)

The 16" wheels will clear certain 13" brakes. I know that my old 16x12 Real Racing wheels would clear the Wilwood 13's and the Baer 13's. IIRC, the issue is not diameter, but placement of the caliper/bracket on the outside.

RICEY?!!!! I'm agast. Never been called that before. Hmmm.

Those are 16x12 RealRacing rims with 6" backspacing front and rear. Goodyear 12x24x16 road race tires. I did need to take about a 1/16 off the radius of the PBR calipers to ensure clearance. On the front i use a 1/4 spacer to clear the face(?) of the caliper. On the rear It still has turbocoupe brakes and a 1/4 spacer is necassary, although I use a 1/2 spacer to reduce rubbing on the inside of the wheel well from sidewall flex.
The front suspention is all MM with sn95 forward offset arms, so the wheel fender opening has been moved forward a total of 3" and flared to clear when lowered. I don't think it would be possible to run tires this wide with out flaring the fenders unless you wanted to look like a 4x4 ride height wise.
The rear brakes are next on the upgrade list 12" in the works. Some day I'll redo the flares to cover the tires completely.
Given the comparitivley low cost of used road race rubber, I wish I woulda done this all a long time ago.

I run 16" 5 lug diamond racing wheels and there is less than 1/4" between the wheel and my 99 GT pbr calipers. I highly doubt these wheels would clear 13" brakes. I have to use a 3/16" spacer for them to clear the caliper bracket in front. Rears with 12" cobra brakes are no problem.

Not this year, so If you meet a guy named "Bob" in a rainbow coloured CP camaro, beat him for me OK? He and his wife Chris, are the ones that got me to run CP this year. So far I've only beaten him once, it's a freindly rivalery, and it really keeps us both pushing.
Next year for sure!

By the way, Thanks for making me aware of RealRacing Wheels, I like'em so much I became a dealer for em. I've done one GP already and the orders keep coming in!!

I recall someone posting that their 16 inch CCW's would clear the 13 inch PBR's they run but I don't know who said that. I'd give John Purner a call and see what he has to say about it.
