Sold my 65 after 41 years

I bought a 289 2V new in June 1965 and sold it 41 years later. Hmm, was that a mistake? Driving an all electric Bolt these days.

I bought my 1st car on June 28th 1979, a 69 Mach 1 (real one), 351W-4V, auto, with 84,572 mi; I was the 3rd owner and not quite 16 yet.

I moved from Florida to Georgia in 2010, and lost my storage in FL so I sold it on Sept 29th 2012. Given the same circumstances, I would likely have to do the same thing again, but boy I still wish I could have found a way to keep her... still missing that one.

I sold my 89 5.0 Notch in 1995. I still think of that car more than old girl friends...no joke. I knew the day I sold it I was making a mistake

Growing up, I heard stories just like these from my Dad, his friends, and so on. When I was only 13 years old I found my "one", swore that if I ever could get that car I'd never sell it. When I turned 17 I finally brought that car home. I'm now 34, my 1974 Cuda is still in my possession, 360cid, 4bbl, pistol grip all in tact. That being said, my 5yr old is growing up making memories with my turbo'd 92 coupe, it may become more important to me than my Cuda.

For everything that is worthwhile, there is a counterfeit.

I sold my 67 Mustang back in 2014 after having it for 27 years. While not planned that soon fate saw that I bought a 1990 LX convertible the following day. I never even made it to the bank with the cash from selling the 67. I would have never thought I would have sold the 67, but as things changed it truly was not the car for me. My son bought a 89 notch and I was converted...a little more modern but still many of the basics and tons of muscle potential.
The 67 was a different beast (had a 351C swap) and while it was super simple to work on, I have thoroughly enjoyed the vert the past 4 years. No regrets.
The two mustangs behind me in the pic are my two sons.

I too am 34. I had a fox in college and spent many weekends at the drag strip with my girlfriend (whom became my wife as the years passed). She came from a car-guy family and was a real catch. Good memories in that car.

I sold my Fox back in 2007 and went on a car hiatus until I found a project I couldn't pass up. I have had the '94 vert for about 7 years now.
This SN was a regular project until around this time last year. Not much time to drive it these days, nor is there much free money to throw at upgrades.

My son has grown up with it in the garage. He calls it "daddy's vroom-vroom car". I have pictures of him in diapers in the passenger seat (when garaged), Pictures of him in a walker while I'm assembling the 351 shortblock, videos of him playing with a socket wrench on the rear end rebuild...and now pics of him in a car seat with the top down for a cruise. He just turned 4.

It is these things that make me think I should make every effort to keep this car. Sentimental value is starting to make an impact. It would be nice to think that my son will be a car guy when he gets a little older. I could use it to teach him mechanics while at the same time, finally getting that stroker kit. ;-)

I wrestle with selling it though, using the cash to pay down my truck note. Daily driver paid off vs fun car that gets less than a thousand miles a year....

"it may become more important to me than my Cuda" - I get it.

94 Vert. 359w. AFR Renegade 185, FTI open track grind,(manifold swap in progress), Accufab 80mm TB. MM suspension. Baer/Cobra brakes. QuickTime Bell & T5-Z. Fox Longtubes, custom side-exit exhaust.
