junkyard combo

Have any of you try using junkyard turbos on anything with any luck? I would really love to go with a turbo setup but right now I'm still in college so $ is pretty scarce. I did see a guy a while back that was running 10's or so with a John Deere turbo. I would really love to get in the turbo game and would love to have that you ran how fast with that junk factor. Please help.

A friend of mine just located 2 turbo coupe units. I figure that since they came off of an engine around half the size of mine that they should be alright. Has anyone tried this? All that I really want is something that will be fun to play with as well as reliable.

I myself am running a pair of turbo coupe .60/.48's. The exhaust housings need to be upgraded to the .63 versions...but besides that, it works great! You just need to make sure they are the garrett/air-research turbo's rather than the smaller IHI's. Don't get me wrong, the IHI's will still work...they just max out around 400 rwhp.

Thanks! I just can't wait until I pick up a set of .63 housings so I can use the full spectrum of my cam.

If by rear cogs you mean mufflers….then that would be none.

Ya I noticed it was quite a bit louder than mine with superturbos, and quite a bit more cam also.
I meant rear gears by cogs.
327's? that is what I run but thinking about 308's

BAH! My brain's been broke for the better part of today...excuse me!

I'm running 3.27's for sure. They seem to be the perfect fit...but still allow some room to grow on the big end. 3.27's with a 26" tire is good for around 140mph if at 6000 rpm...which is plenty for me.

Ya with the F cam and 26's you do have room to grow, but thats where mine is different stock cam and 26's and I'm shifting at 5000 and trapping maybe around 5500(131mph this year) all in hopes a the stock block staying together. I would like to put an F cam in but that means a shorter lifespan for my stock block.
